Dishwasher won't dry, overheats, or runs continuously? The high limit thermostat prevents overheating. DIY repair in 30 minutes with video guide.
My Whirlpool dishwasher (wdf520padm3) started leaving food on dishes and not drying dishes as well as it used to, even when I ran the 'high temp' and 'heavy' cleaning options. This started happening after about 3 years of operation. To try to diagnose the issue, I started the diagnostics cycle (see below for instructions on how to do this). However, the 'Clean' LED is also not working on my dishwasher, so I was unable to read the error code after the service cycle finished. I decided to... Read more
Creates a watertight seal around your dishwasher door to prevent leaks during wash cycles. Replace if water leaks from the door or edges show wear.
I thought it was the gasket so I ordered a new one. While waiting for it to arrive I read some other forums where I read that sometimes the air vent on the front could be dirty and cause leaking. I popped out that vent cover and it was clogged. Using an old toothbrush and a tiny paint brush I cleaned all of the gunk out. No more leak even with the old gasket in place. I'll save the new gasket for when I need it in the future. Read more
Fix dishwasher leaks around the heating element with this rubber washer. Creates a watertight seal where the element enters the tub. Easy 15-minute repair.
Replaced heater element: Once I had the dishwasher out of the cabinet with supply hose, drain hose and electric disconnected, removing the heater element was fast and easy. However, it was confusing that the new heater element had rubber washers on it already, something not mentioned in the product listing, although kinda visible in the photo. I ordered the separate rubber washer parts recommended by Appliance Parts Pros together with the heater element. The separate rubber washers were the... Read more
Standing water in dishwasher bottom or leaking onto floor? This impeller and seal kit repairs worn bushings and seals. 15-minute DIY fix.
I had previously disassemble the pump assembly to find what I at first thought was an oddly shaped spring, which it was. What I learned by researching the parts was that the spring's odd shape was a result of something having gotten caught in the pump and jamming the impeller. After ordering the parts, I watched the "repair video" a few time and proceeded to remove and replaced the affected parts. Reassembly went pretty much as described with the one small glitch being the seating of the new... Read more
Replacement tine row for dishwasher upper or lower rack. Holds dishes upright and properly spaced. Replace if tines are rusted, broken, or rotted away.
Just replaced the things. Had to reuse old tine rows, rollers, the spray arm, etc., i.e. I removed 'em from the old racks and put on the new ones, but that was piece of cake. Also, I cleaned the food grinder and the discharge valve compartment (thank you very ???? ???? much, Internet), so spray arms around the top rack get enough water pressure now. I didn't have to buy any parts for the latter part of this little repair project, though. Read more
Dishwasher won't power on or stops mid-cycle? The thermal fuse cuts power when overheating occurs. DIY-friendly repair in under 30 minutes.
My friend researched online what would make a dishwasher just stop working, no power. The person on the you tube video showed how to first start with the thermal fuse. Then searched online for the thermal fuse. You had the part for a small price. I felt it was worth trying to see if that may be the issue. IT WORKED!! I was without a dishwasher for over a year, was planning to by a brand new one but for $23.00 now have a working dishwasher!! YEAH! Read more
High-temperature adhesive secures gaskets, seals, and feet in hot zones. Replace when parts loosen or seals fail. Confirm fit with your model number.
I took the cover off the transmission and determined that the only possible knocking had to be coming from the yoke. I ordered a new yoke and all the tub seals needed to put it back together like new. I also ordered a new drive pulley bearing because this bearing is always turning whenever the washer is used. I cleaned all the parts up while I was waiting for the new parts to arrive. I promised my wife I would make it look like new. I installed all the new parts in one day and let the... Read more
Replaces the detergent dispenser lid spring in your dishwasher. Installs inside the dispenser door mechanism to provide tension for opening the lid.
Appeared to be two problems: the latch was worn and one of the pins that slid in a guide on the actuator located in the inner panel had broke off. Detergent lid spring and pin appeared to be OK but decided to replace since I was aready working on it. I ordered all the inner panel mechanism from the control arm to the latch actuator on the inner panel. The repair was successful as the detergent dispenser now opens during its cycle. Read more
Dishwasher won't fill or overfills with water? The water inlet valve controls fill cycles. Most DIYers complete this repair in under 60 minutes.
Ordered new inlet water valve and float switch kit. After repairs it now works fine. However the water inlet valve outlet end for fill hose (not water source) and wire connections (supposedly for this unit) were oriented 180 degrees opposite. I had to gently remove the blue plastic valve off the metal support bracket and turn it around and press back in place. Fortunately it appears it was designed for either orientation. Also the solenoid had to be unclipped and also rotated. Again it was... Read more

Secures water and drain hoses in washers to prevent leaks. Replace if connections loosen or clamp shows corrosion. Confirm fit with your model number.
First off I have to say that Appliance Parts Pro's saved me from hiring a repair person, and quite possibly just getting rid of my washing machine. Their video's helped out SOOOOOOOO much and the advice one of their agents gave me over their online chat helped me trouble shoot something when I got stuck. On top of this they shipped my parts fast enough that less than 12 hrs later they arrived, which allowed me to get my machine up and running way faster than the other options I had available.... Fix a detergent dispenser that won't open or close properly with this latch kit. Includes all components for secure closure. 10-15 minute repair.
Guides the upper rack smoothly in and out of your dishwasher. Replace if cracked, broken, or wheels no longer roll properly along the track.
Ordered the parts and followed the instruction videos that Sears provide, Initially tried to order parts from Sears directly but the web-page kept complaining about my shipping address. Their loss- no wonder they're going out of business. Also, should note that the original assembly was plastic but the replacement was metal. Sure sign of a crappy cost-cutting decision. Overall, very happy with Appliance Parts Pros! Read more
Fix a dishwasher door that won't latch or stay closed with this door latch bolt. Straightforward 20-minute repair restores proper door closure. Video guide.
I ordered the Door Switch Kit, along with a few other items. However, the switch kit was all that was needed. Isimply followed the instructions that came with the kit. It was necessary to cut the wires which connected to the wire assembly in the door of the dishwasher. I then connected the pieces from the switch kit and then connected the end pieces to the door. I closed the door, and started up the dishwasher. It worked as well as before. Read more
Replace your dishwasher's insulation blanket when it becomes stained, torn, or damaged by water leaks. Wraps around the tub to reduce noise and heat loss.
Dishwasher washer would not drain after hearing glass-like particles during the drain cycle despite trying to clean the cylinder filter. Originally suspected the drain motor was damaged. After watching a video on how to replace the drain pump, I carefully energized the dishwasher (from water and electricity) then removed the dishwasher to take a look. After removal of drain hose from the pump, discovered that drain hose was connected to water inlet assembly which also needed removal to... Read more
