I have a Jennair jjw9630cas double wall oven, and after a few years I noticed that the light would not go out, first in the bottom oven, and then in the top oven. After doing some research I discovered this was not uncommon, and the fix usually involved replacing the hinges and/or the hinge receptacles. It didn't look like a difficult fix so I ordered four new hinges and four new receptacles, which arrived quickly. I found a video on YouTube that showed how to replace the hinges and it... Read more
Refrigerator stopped cooling or compressor won't start? The run capacitor provides electrical charge to keep the compressor motor running smoothly.
I have a Kitchen Aid side by side refrigerator/freezer which is 8 years old. One day it just stopped cooling. At first I was just going to junk it and purchase a new one. However, I took off the lower back cover and noticed the compressor was not running. I knew from experience that these compressors need a starter capacitor and relay and it is not uncommon for these parts to fail. I looked on the Internet for a video which showed how to remove the parts. I also found a video which showed how... Read more

Refrigerator runs warm or freezer not cooling properly? The condenser fan motor circulates air over the coils. DIY repair takes 15-60 minutes with basic tools.
After reviewing the 'how to' video on AppliancePartsPros.com, I unplugged the refrigerator and removed the back cover to access the motor. I then unplugged the wiring and removed the bad motor. I cut the clip plug and wired it to the new motor, installed the fan blade from the old motor and re-installed the new motor. After connecting the clip plug and re-installing the back cover, I plugged the refrigerator in and checked the interior about 5 minutes after the repair. Everything has been... Read more
Seals freezer door to prevent warm air entry and frost buildup. Replace if torn, cracked, or causing poor seal. Verify fit with your model number.
I followed a video to remove the inside door panel and gasket. Putting the new gasket was as easy as the video said. The only problem was ice had built up on the inside of the door panel that needed to be defrosted. Read more
Fridge warm but freezer cold? Frost buildup on coils? Your defrost timer may be failing. This control manages automatic defrost cycles. 15-min DIY fix.
I am not new to APP, fixed a tub belt on a Maytag dryer in the past. My frig started getting warm so I went onto to one of those "lists" sites and found a appliance repair place. The guys were great and came out right away. The tech said it was the cold control and $260 later my part was replaced, about 30 minutes. Great I thought until my frig started getting warm again. Those cold sensors on the beer bottles are a great indicator. Not wanting to spend another $260 I looked up on APP to see if... Read more
Frost buildup on freezer wall or evaporator coils? This defrost thermostat triggers the defrost cycle to prevent ice accumulation. DIY-friendly repair.
Forms an airtight seal to keep cold air in and warm air out. Replace when worn, cracked, or not sealing properly. Verify fit with your model number.
Unfortunately, this model has the screws that you need to loosen before you can squeeze the rubber in but the gaskets fit perfectly. It took a lot more time than the video showed but that was because the video was of the pop in type. Be sure when pushing the rubber under the metal strip you make sure it actually goes in. I think the last people installed the gaskets incorrectly and that's why they broke and pulled out of place. Unscrew the bolts first, I used an electric drill. The old gasket... Read more
Replacement mounting screw for securing components and housings in place. Order a new screw if yours is stripped, missing, or damaged during repairs.
One day my wife went to bake something and the bake/broil buttons as well as #3, #9, and oven light ceased to work. Local repair guy came by and wanted to charge $500 to fix it....YEAH RIGHT! Did a little homework and found this website, spoke with knowledgable staff who pointed me in the right direction. Took me all of about 20 minutes to install new control panel..everything works perfect...THANKS! p.s. In doing my research come to find Maytag did little to insulate control panel from oven... Replace your freezer door gasket when frost builds up or the door won't stay closed. Press-fit installation takes minutes with a hair dryer. Verify fit.
I ordered the replacement gasket and...replaced it. One issue was that the replacement procedure was not at all like the video to which I was directed when I got the gasket. The video showed a gasket with a rigid flange that had to be inserted into the door structure. On my Amana, I clearly had to remove the inner plastic liner and set the gasket under it. This was not particularly difficult but certainly wasn't the same process. Also, I removed the freezer door to do the replacement in... Read more
Fixes loose panels, rattling doors, or wobbly components caused by stripped or missing screws. Secures brackets, covers, and mounting hardware. Easy DIY.
Maytag Dishwasher (about 5 years old). Some of the buttons had stopped functioning. Then the Start button began choosing whether or not to work. Eventually it would not start at all. Upon removing the control panel, the first thing I noticed was that the brackets that hold the two lower screws were broken. (So this was the reason that the door was so hard to open from the time it was new.) I trouble shot the thermal fuse, the door-latch switches, and inspected the control board trying to find... Refrigerator won't shut off or stop cooling? A faulty temperature control thermostat may be the cause. This part regulates cooling cycles.
Tested start relay and fan with multimeter both passed. The condenser would start only if the thermostat was on the highest setting and the refrigerator would cool for a while, stop and not restart unless I adjusted the defrost timer. Decided to replace the thermostat, defrost timer and defrost thermostat. The refrigerator is working as expected. FYI on a Kenmore 59669142992 the defrost timer is located under the freezer in the front right. Read more
Refrigerator not cooling or freezer warm? A failed evaporator fan motor stops cold air circulation. DIY repair in under 30 minutes with basic tools.
Used Google to troubleshoot the issue. Inside the freezer I took the back off. Noticed two things. The evaporator motor was not turning and the top half of the coils were frozen over. Obvious fan not spinning issue. I felt the motor and it was hot. Spun the fan it it started spinning. Put it all back together. Ran OK for 5-6 more days then same issue. I ordered the new motor and then and spun the fan again. It lasted for 2 days. Had to spin the fan to get it going 2 more times until... Read more
