Refrigerator Evaporator Fan Motor
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W11671461

If your fridge isn't cooling or freezer is making loud noises, the evaporator fan motor may have failed. Moderately easy DIY repair with video guide.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The refrigerator side was not cooling   Bryan W. • Austin , TX • February 28, 2020

After checking the suggested fixes and parts on Appliance Parts Pros, I ordered the defrost thermostat and evap motor for my refrigerator, a Kitchen Aid KSSC42QTS00. Installation was very easy, simply emptying the freezer and removing the access panel in the back bottom half. Upon getting everything open, I found out that the existing evap motor was working fine, so I didn't install that part. I did install the defrost thermometer, which was a 5-minute process. I also cleared out the vent... Read more

Dc Motor Assembly
Genuine Lg part
By: Lg
Part Number: EAU63923603

The Evaporator Fan Motor Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG refrigerators. This assembly is responsible for circulating cold air from the evaporator coils throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartments. By doing so, it ensures that both compartments maintain the desired temperatures and that the cooling process is efficient.

Causes for a malfunctioning Evaporator Fan Motor Assembly can include motor wear from continuous operation, electrical issues like faulty wiring, obstructions preventing the fan blades from turning, or damage to the fan blades themselves.

Symptoms of a bad Evaporator Fan Motor Assembly include:

  • Inconsistent temperatures in the refrigerator or freezer compartments
  • Unusual noises, such as humming or buzzing, coming from the back of the refrigerator
  • Reduced cooling efficiency, leading to food spoiling faster
  • Frost buildup in the freezer due to poor air circulation

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore model refrigerators.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Loud noise coming from freezer. Periodic grinding like an old fan/motor.   Jimmy F. • Evanston , IL • July 26, 2022

The fridge is 20+ years old in a home we recently moved into. It sounded like a motor getting stuck on something or grinding weird... was hoping it wasn't something more serious. Found this site, clicked 'noisy' and got the replacement evaporator fan motor blade as well as the motor evaporator. Turned out I didn't really need to replace the fan blade, but since I had it and ours was old, figured I might as well put in the new parts. Followed the videos here, which were really helpful. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fresh food section(top half) was not cooling.   Luis F. • Hawthorne , CA • April 20, 2021

Checked and found the evaporator frozen causing the fan to stop working. Took the interior panels off and applied a blow dryer to the ice, once the ice melted I cut the tabs on the grommet holding the fan since everything is thin plastic and replaced the grommet and fan. Placed everything back and found no further issues. Tools I used were a small flat head screwdriver to pry the panels off and a 1/4 socket to remove the center drawer (4), water filter cover (2), and the ice maker (2). Not too... Read more

Removed refrigerator panel, disconnected light and fan power. Removed fan assembly and replaced motor, grommets and fan attachment spring. Unit had adhesive on spring to help hold the spring. Chatted with customer service and clarified that spring and fan would easily pull off motor shaft. Adhesive probably was extra measure used during original build of the fridge. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Frig and freezer not cold enough   Brian L. • North Las Vegas , NV • July 22, 2019

After removing the rear panel, I vacuumed the area. Then was easy to see condenser fan not spinning. I replaced the fan with a compression ring and a fan motor. First pulled the wiring harness connected to fan motor, then pulled off the fan with hands. Then used a wrench to remove 2 bolts for the motor. Next, pushed on new fan and screwed in the 2 bolts for the motor. Initially, I purchased a new temperature control to replace as well but after replacing fan and motor, I believe it was still... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Side by side fridge had stopped cooling in both fridge and freezer and was hot to touch in center between the two   Robert P. • King , NC • August 11, 2015

I googled the issue and read several articles. Most started with cleaning the coils (which mine are on the bottom) (19yr old Kenmore 363.9557812). I had not really ever cleaned them well, vacuuming did little. I had to remove the cardboard cover off the back of the frig, and blew them clean (front to back). Once that was done, I started cleaning from the back and noticed the fan wasn't turning week (condensor fan). Blew it out too, have it a good soon with a pencil, it puffed out a bunch of... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fan was making a weird noise   Raymond A. • Brookville , OH • February 19, 2016

First I did a search for my model stove, I read the discriptions of what it was doing and came to the conclusion it was the fan motor. I then called an appliance dealer in my local area to find out that the fan motor cost all most double what I could get it online. I called to see how much it would cost to have a repair man come out and fix it, which would have cost 260 dollars. So in one of the suggested comments that someone previously left it stated that it could be done in about 20... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg washer e6 error code clutch error   Michael S. • Apple Valley , MN • February 28, 2016

When I looked up LG washer E6 code on the web I saw the tip from LG: unplug the washer and call for service. To me that's a challenge. I saw the AppliancePartsPros.com story on Google, read it and decided to try the solution that worked for other people. A clutch shifter motor that was around $20.
