Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You I heard grinding then noticed lack of rotation in a 4 yr old lg front loader washer   David C. • Gaston , OR • September 19, 2015

I looked on the internet for similar descriptions for similar models and found many angry reports. Most said that the rotor assembly was bad as the nut that held the rotor and other parts together had loosened and allowed slippage between steel and plastic splines. Yes, I know that sounds like trouble, but apparently not to LG when they designed it. Most buyers complained that the part was covered by warrantee but not the labor and labor had been quoted as $400 to $600 dollars. Time to buy... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fresh food section(top half) was not cooling.   Luis F. • Hawthorne , CA • April 20, 2021

Checked and found the evaporator frozen causing the fan to stop working. Took the interior panels off and applied a blow dryer to the ice, once the ice melted I cut the tabs on the grommet holding the fan since everything is thin plastic and replaced the grommet and fan. Placed everything back and found no further issues. Tools I used were a small flat head screwdriver to pry the panels off and a 1/4 socket to remove the center drawer (4), water filter cover (2), and the ice maker (2). Not too... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Side by side fridge had stopped cooling in both fridge and freezer and was hot to touch in center between the two   Robert P. • King , NC • August 11, 2015

I googled the issue and read several articles. Most started with cleaning the coils (which mine are on the bottom) (19yr old Kenmore 363.9557812). I had not really ever cleaned them well, vacuuming did little. I had to remove the cardboard cover off the back of the frig, and blew them clean (front to back). Once that was done, I started cleaning from the back and noticed the fan wasn't turning week (condensor fan). Blew it out too, have it a good soon with a pencil, it puffed out a bunch of... The fridge is 20+ years old in a home we recently moved into. It sounded like a motor getting stuck on something or grinding weird... was hoping it wasn't something more serious. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My ge refrigerator had cold freezer but a warm refrigerator section   Robert K. • Devon , PA • July 10, 2016

I first watched U-Tube tutorials for an hour that addressed the defect and demonstrated the typical repair formats. Dryer Motor Kit
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WE17X10010

This dryer motor kit powers the drum and blower. Replacing a weak or failed motor restores proper tumbling and airflow so the dryer starts reliably and dries loads more evenly.

  • Drives the drum via the belt and turns the blower wheel for airflow
  • Helps resolve: dryer hums but won't start, drum won't turn, or stops mid-cycle
  • Can reduce loud buzzing/grinding noises from the motor area
  • Restores consistent operation when the motor overheats and trips its protector
What's included: 1 drive motor Install notes:
  • Disconnect power; turn off gas supply to gas dryers before servicing
  • Remove panels to access the drive system; release belt tension and remove the drum as needed
  • The blower wheel threads onto the motor shaft—support it carefully; many GE dryers use a reverse (left-hand) thread
  • Transfer wiring and any reusable hardware to the new motor; test before reassembly

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Motor was not working   Linn C. • Saint Augustine , FL • June 17, 2014

Replaced the motor with a new one, if I can offer any advice about doing this job, make sure to keep track of where each wire goes on the motor and whatever wires need to be disconnected. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Fan was making a weird noise   Raymond A. • Brookville , OH • February 19, 2016

First I did a search for my model stove, I read the discriptions of what it was doing and came to the conclusion it was the fan motor. I then called an appliance dealer in my local area to find out that the fan motor cost all most double what I could get it online. I called to see how much it would cost to have a repair man come out and fix it, which would have cost 260 dollars. So in one of the suggested comments that someone previously left it stated that it could be done in about 20... Read more
