The Digitron is an OEM part for GE microwaves. It is an essential component of the microwave's control board, displaying settings, cooking times, and other information on the microwave's digital display.

Over time, the Digitron can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. If the Digitron is malfunctioning, it can affect the readability of the display or the functionality of the control panel.

Symptoms of a bad Digitron include:

  • The display being dim or completely dark
  • Inaccurate or incomplete information shown on the screen
  • Flickering or intermittent display issues
  • Unresponsive control buttons linked to the display

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Digitron (Part Number: OEM11650305)

Gary for Model Number ZSC1001KSS01

I have a GE Monogram Advantium oven Model ZCS1001KS01 made in July of 2006. The upper part of the Display is not functioning, completely black no date and no response when I press any of the cook, reheat etc. buttons. The interior light comes on when I open the door. The oven seems works properly except for the display. For instance, if I press cook, the display shows “COOK” and flashes “TURN DIAL”, but nothing else is displayed. If I then turn the Dial and press it twice the oven comes on and heats. I put a cup of water in the oven and press the reheat button then turn the dial and press it again the oven comes on and reheats the water then turns off. Can you tell me what part I need and how to replace it?

Greg for Model Number SCB1001KSS01

Display board flickers, goes blank, flickers again, goes back to normal. This does not impact the operation of the M/W. Looking at the other posts, you mention replacing the digitron. However, the odd thing is when i press on the front of the display near the stainless trim, it is like I am pressing on the actual buttons to operate the M/W. I removed the cover to expose the wires and can't find any loose wires. Thanks in advance for your help on this.

Greg, With the display flickering then this would most likely be caused by a faulty digitron.

Joe for Model Number SCB1000KBB01

My GE is 13 1/2 years old. For the past few months the display flickers, goes off, leaves a flashing dash in upper left corner. It does various things. When I reset the breaker it comes back to where I can use it however the display may or may not return to normal. I read through many of the posts on this site. I have a manual I found online and I did check the low voltage transformer. It checks out fine. No wires look burned, disconnected or even that got hot at one time. My assumption is the digitron is bad. In the manual there is no checks for any of the boards. One last thing; twice it did seem to overheat the food on a serving I use every day. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Joe, based on the information provided, the most likely cause would be the power supply board WB27X10861 improperly sending voltage.

Erik for Model Number GE SCB1001KSS01

I have a GE SCB1001KSS01 that has as wonky display. Shows the time but it flickers and the characters float around the screen. I have read many Answers regarding this and similar issues. I purchased WB27X10858 and WB27X10861 after reading those answers. After installing the boards the problem still occurs. Now that I have spent roughly $250 with no solution, do you have any other suggestions? No chance of return the boards after they have been installed, I would guess, Frustrating!

1 Answer

Erik, the transformer WB17X10021 will need to be inspected for loose terminal connections and broken wires. From there, the DC voltage output will need to be tested. With a multimeter, at connection CN7 of the pcb the black probe would be placed at pin 5 and red probe at pin 4. The voltage reading should measure 7V DC. From there, the black probe would go to pin 2 and the red probe would be placed at pin 1 for 12V DC, then pin 3 for 19V DC. If any of the voltages did not read appropriately, or the voltage fluctuated, then the transformer has failed and would need to be replaced.

Elisabeth, For this issue, the most likely cause for the display to become dark and numbers to flicker would be the control transformer WB17X10021.

Mike for Model Number GE SCB1001KSS01

Have a 2006 GE Adavantium 120 microwave ( model SCB1001KSS01). Two months ago the display started randomly flashing and scrolling. Unplugging it would seem to reset things and it would work for a while but eventually would start doing the same thing. All other functions of the microwave worked fine. Replaced the Digitron Display board WB27X10856 purchased through AppliancePartsPros.com ( part number AP3883432). Unit worked perfectly for two months then suddenly started the whole process all over again. This time the display will at times go completely blank. Unplugging the unit for 10 minutes will “reset” it for a period of time and the display will work normally but eventually it goes scrambled and blank again. All other functions of the microwave continue to function properly. Is this a repeat failure of the Digitron Display board? If so why would the new board fail only after two months? Did I receive a bad board or could there be something else causing the boards to fail? Thanks

1 Answer

Mike, It's more likely something else. The WB27X10858 / WB27X10858 Pwb(pcb) Asm Sub is the more likely culprit. It probably has a loose wire or connection to the digitron, and possibly other components. It could also be a loose solder joint on the board, which will interrupt power to the digitron causing the machine to have a intermittent display, yet operate all the other components.

Mike, You will want to check the low voltage transformer for 120 vac coming into the transformer and 12 vdc coming out to the display. If there is not 12 vdc coming out then this will be an issue with the transformer WB17X10021.
