Dave November 18, 2011 for Model Number JGBS23GEV3WH I just received and installed a WB2X9154 igniter into the stove and stove still doesn't work. Burners on top still work. The igniter doesn't seem to get power. It doesn't light up at all. I have checked connections and rechecked em. Is there a reset button of some sort? I need some direction please....
1 Answer Hello Dave. If there is no power to the igniter, and the wires are good, you will need to replace the clock WB27T10469 and the overlay WB11K50. Hope this helps. Read More...
Doris November 14, 2011 for Model Number 8117278510 Kenmore gas range The oven does not ignite, but the sove toep works. If I need an ignitor switch, where is it located and is it safe for my husband to connect it. Do we need to turn the gas off firs? Thank you.
1 Answer Doris, Your model number is not correct, but in general, Replacing an oven burner igniter is a relatively easy repair for the average DIY'r. In most cases, you remove the oven door and oven racks. Remove the bottom panel in the oven , remove the flame spreader attached to the burner tube. Turn the oven on and observe the igniter, it should glow red and in 30 to 60 seconds, it should be glowing "white hot". if theres no glow, or the glow never gets white hot, you'd have a weak or broken igniter and will need to replace it. Mrs. Smith November 11, 2011 for Model Number 316433600 I have an electric range,my top works but my oven broil&bake don't and it makes a tick, tick sound. The name of the stove is TAPPAN who makes this brand. Thank you Mrs. Smith.
1 Answer Hello Mrs. Smith. Tappen is manufactured by GE. You will need to test and make sure 240 volts is coming to the unit at the terminal block on the back of the unit and the cord is good. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Kelvin November 10, 2011 for Model Number JGBP28BEA1CT I replaced the oven igniter about a year ago, however, just recently the oven won't heat up. Should I replace the oven igniter again?
1 Answer Kelvin, That would be a good place to start WB2X9154 . If you can access a multimeter or ammeter, you could check for 2.5 to 3.0 VAC on the wires at the safety valve, or 2.5 to 3.0 amps on the igniter wire, when the igniter is attempting to glow and ignite the gas. Angelo November 03, 2011 for Model Number JGBP35CEACC Like everyone else my boiler works on my ge xl44 but the igniter for baking doesn't. I went to switch the two igniters while waiting for the new one to come but there are two different connection leads. The broiler is a white plastic fitting that snap connects to the wiring while the bake element has a hot and ground wire to separate connections. I was wondering if I would be ok splicing the connections and if so if I need to re-insulate or take any special considerations as its in an oven?
1 Answer Hello Angelo. Yes, you can splice the igniter WB2X9154, but you will need to use ceramic wire nuts DE81-08428A to insulate the wires. Hope this helps. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Ram. No, you can connect the wires either way on the igniter WB2X9154. Hope this helps. Read More...
Ed S. October 24, 2011 for Model Number JGBP28SEH2SS Oven bake works broil does not. I suspect the igniter is out. Is it the top or bottom? Should I replace both?
1 Answer Hello Ed. The broil igniter WB2X9154 is located in the top of the unit. If the bake works, it should be OK. Hope this helps. Read More...
Jeff October 18, 2011 for Model Number JGRP17WEW5WW I replaced igniter for oven. When I turn on sometimes it lights and other times it doesn't. I light manually then after preheat it shuts off and won't re-light and you smell gas.
1 Answer Hello Jeff. Check and see if the igniter is glowing when the unit does not lite. If not, test for voltage to the igniter. If there is none, you will need to replace the oven control WB27T10267. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Rachel October 17, 2011 for Model Number egr200ec0bb My oven inst turning on it still makes the clicking noise when I try to preheat it but never turns on to bake. The stove top works fine. Do you think it could be the ignitor? If it is could I fix it myself?
1 Answer Hello Rachel. You will need to test and see if there is power coming to the igniter WB2X9154. If there is 120 volts there, and the igniter does not glow in bake mode, the igniter is bad and will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
