Andrew E. May 22, 2012 for Model Number wbsr3140doww When it's ready to spin for the rinse cycle, my washer sounds like a wheel bearing in my truck, a grinding noise that's getting worse.
1 Answer Hello Andrew, The first thing you should do is be sure you're not hearing debris in the drain pump. This would be very desirable as the next issue we will cover is a bit more costly and much more time consuming. This is the sound that the spin bearing WH2X1197 makes when the outer tub WH02X10383 seal has begun to leak and detergent water has washed the grease from the bearing. Also, be aware that there is a lower spin bearing that is made on the transmission assembly WH38X10002. Let us know if we can provide further assistance. Read More...
Alice May 15, 2012 for Model Number GE WBSR3140 Is there a washer or gasket that fits on the screw, between the coupler and the pin on the transmission? It seems that the coupler spins loosely when it is all the way down, but catches when it is just slightly raised. We don't see a gasket, but there is a lot of residue around the transmission pin, so perhaps there was one that wore away?
1 Answer Hello Alice, The coupler WH49X10042 needs to be replaced. It catches when it is raised a bit because there is a small part that still has the teeth completely intact. If you raise it and try it like that, it will strip under load. Read More...
Gail April 28, 2012 for Model Number WJRR4170E1WW I got the agitator off, removed the coupler bolt, but I can not get the coupler off. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Gail, Try using a small size rope. Wrap it under the coupler one time and give it a yank. It may take a few times and you may need to tie the ends to something to use as a handle, but it should pop right off. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Dan. You will run a rope under the agitator and jerk upwards to remove the agitator from the washer. Once the agitator is removed, you can access the bolt in the top of the coupling and remove the coupling WH49X10042 from the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
1 Answer Jesus', If we understand you correctly, the washer will fill and agitate(wash)and drain the water, but will not spin. If that is correct, you need to start by checking the belt WP22003483 for excess wear, make sure the motor slides and slide plate are clean and the motor assembly moves freely, and the thrust bearing and pulley 12002213 are not distorted or worn excessively. You most likekly have an issue with the thrust bearing assembly, based on your post. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Scott J January 09, 2012 for Model Number WJRR4170EWW Agitator does not work when filled with water. Agitator can be pulled up about 1 1/2 inches from bottom of tub. Seems loose.
1 Answer Hello Scott. Check and see if the coupling WH49X10042 is bad in the unit and is causing the issues with the agitator. Hope this helps. Read More...
Cody December 12, 2011 for Model Number VBXR1060V1WW Washing machine tub wont spin when there is a load of clothes in it. Works fine without a load. Motor, clutch, belt and transmission (at least the bottom part, which I can see while still assembled) are all spinning but the tub will not spin with a load in.
1 Answer Hi Cody. Remove the agitator and see if the coupler under it that mounts to the transmission shaft is broken. This is part # WH49X10042. Thank You. Read More...
Pete October 02, 2011 for Model Number WSSR3120W1WW My washer spins wildly during the spin cycle after I discovered what appears to be crushed metal in the washer basket. I cleaned out the basket and the water drainage pump of all the metals. Will replacing the washer agitator and coupling kit fix this problem?
1 Answer Hi Pete. Have you removed the agitator to see if you need the coupling kit part # is WH49X10042? Where did the metal come from ? If the inner hub base is broken, it will unbalance the unit and have pieces from there as well. The part # is WH45X10027. Thank you. Read More...
Paulpwmj54 August 02, 2011 for Model Number wbsr1060taww Should the agitator coupling free spin in both dirctions?

Chris July 17, 2011 for Model Number wjsr2080t2aa This washer needs a tranny. Some parts were froze (corroded to shaft). The drive bell looks good (i'll clean it up). Its not cracked/stripped, but some rust on the inside where it goes onto the shaft. Should/can I put some anti-seize on the trans spline or the threads where the hub nut screws on or on the hub where the nut is recessed, or on the split ring/hub washer to prevent corrosion?
1 Answer Hello Chris! The washer transmission is part number WH38X10002. You can put anti-seize on the locations that you are inquiring about. Thanks! Read More...
