Patrick Conry March 25, 2020 for Model Number Wf520abp/xaa03 Hi I have a Samsung front end loader washer. It was getting down to 7 minutes in the finally rinse/spin cycle but doesn’t go any lower and then restarts the spin cycle again. It is level and seems to be draining properly but it’s like it won’t go in high speed to finish out the cycle. I already changed the shock absorbers. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me.
1 Answer Patrick, You will want to check the rotor and stator to make sure that there is no damage to them. Also, check to make sure that there is not a broken spider and the springs are good. If this check ok then it would be likely that the balance ring may be the issue. Read More...
Robert March 11, 2020 for Model Number Samsung WF350ANW/XAA-02 Are there two of the balance rings on the Samsung WF350ANW/XAA-02? If these are bad, would I need to order two of these to replace the balance ring on each side of the inner drum? Thank you.
1 Answer Robert, based on the manufacturer diagrams there is only one balance ring DC97-12135A used with your model. Read More...
Robert T March 10, 2020 for Model Number Samsung Washer Model WF350ANW-XAA 02 During the spin cycle, the washer drum makes a slapping or galloping sound for about 1-2 secondes at the lower RPM range. Once the spin cycle gets up to faster speeds after the first couple seconds, the slapping or galloping sound goes away. The washing machine has never given me an error code and the cycles have always finished successfully. Do you think this is a problem with one or both of the balance rings (AP4327038) or should I be looking at the flange shaft assembly (AP4458785) and possibly the center tub seal (AP4212809) and tub seal (AP4212809)? The unit seems fairly level when I tested it with a small level on top of the machine. Is there anything else that I can check before taking the machine apart and replacing parts? Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Robert, this sounds like the rear spin bearings are starting to wear, that would allow the basket to wobble at the beginning of spin and once rotating fast enough the balance ring would generate enough centrifugal force to stabilize the basket. The repair, in that case, would be the replacement of the rear outer tub section DC97-15328L and possibly the basket support DC97-15491A. Read More...
Sam March 08, 2020 for Model Number WF42H5000AW/A2 Is the balance ring supposed to make noise? When I turn the drum around, I hear clanking sound and I think it's from the balance ring. Are there bearing in the balance ring and are they supposed to make noise?
1 Answer Sam, The noise that you are most likely hearing is the spider assembly and the only way to know is to break the unit down and separate the outer tub. This is not an easy repair and you need to take photos of all wire connections, how they are routed and what they connect to. Making notes and taking pictures will make the reassembly a whole lot easier. Read More...
Ericg February 13, 2020 for Model Number WF419AAW/XAA-000 During the spin cycle, washer drum becomes unbalanced at the lower RPM range. It does not complete the spin cycle with clothing in the drum but completes the cycle when it is empty. I have replaced the spider arm, bearings, seal and all four shocks. The only other thing I have not replaced is the balance ring. No error codes come up. Could there be anything else causing this drum to become unbalanced? The washer is level on each corner. Thanks!
1 Answer Eric, With the unit being level and what has been replaced then, this would most likely be either a balance ring that is bad or a tub that is out of round. Read More...
Stephen January 26, 2020 for Model Number WF520ABW/XAA At the end of the rinse and spin there was some smoke coming out past the front of washer 2 different times. I have taken all apart and can not find any visible signs of damage to electrical parts any suggestion on what may be causing this?? The cloths were not as rung out as normal.
1 Answer Stephen, the spin basket would need to be inspected to identify if it rotates freely and if it is able to move independently of the outer tub. If it does not move freely, there may be an item stuck between the basket and tub. If it moves independently of the outer tub, it will have either a bad bearing (part of the rear tub assembly DC97-16151A) or a broken spider shaft (part of the basket assembly DC97-16086A). The door gasket DC97-16140A will also need to be inspected for any signs of damage from friction. If those check good, the unit will need to be placed into a cycle while the back panel is removed so that the unit may be observed to identify where the smoke may be coming from. Read More...
Timay December 23, 2019 for Model Number WF218ANW/XAA-00 What quantity of fluid should part number DC97-12135A be when inspecting the balance ring? Currently the amount of fluid is the equivalent of 3 o'clock to 6 o'clock which doesn't seem like enough. Have these been leaking? Please advise.
1 Answer Hello Timay, the manufacturer does not give any specs for balance fluid amount. What you are seeing sounds about right as it does need airspace to move around, it is not a completely filled ring. Also if there was a leak the fluid would be lost very quickly in just a few cycles. Nick December 16, 2019 for Model Number WF45K6200AW/A2 My washer has recently developed a shake during the spin cycle, I disassembled to inspect for any damage or failed parts. It seems the balance ring beads want to clump. In another question I saw someone mention there is fluid in the ring. I removed the balance ring and there is still fluid in it but there is an air pocket roughly 1/3 of the ring. Is this normal or should it be completely full of fluid? Also I have read about a self spin test but cannot find any information on my specific model. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Nick, yes, that is correct for the balance ring. For the shaking you may want to check for worn spin bearings or a damage Flange shaft assembly (spider). Read More...
Bob December 11, 2019 for Model Number WF330ANW/XAA My washer will start spin cycle but never get up to full speed. It tries then it slows down. I have to run two or three spin cycles to get the clothes dry enough to put in dryer. When I look at the washer during the spin it appears to wobble. Is it the shocks or the balance ring? Thanks!!
1 Answer Bob, the inner spin basket will need to be inspected by wiggling it up and down. If there is any play between the spin basket and the outer tub (spin basket should not be able to move independently at all within the outer tub), the spider shaft DC97-15491A and the bearings in the rear tub assembly DC97-15328L will need to be inspected to find which may be causing the issue. If there is not any play between the spin basket and the outer tub, then the next step would be to access the main control at connection CN6. With the unit in the on in the cycle selection mode, test from pin 4 (black probe of meter on the orange wire throughout testing) to pin 2 (red probe at red wire) and rotate the spin basket by hand. With the meter set to DC voltage, it should measure 3.75VDC. Then the red probe would be moved to pin 3 (blue wire) and repeat the voltage measure procedure, the same voltage should be measured. If the voltage is not 3.75VDC when the basket is rotated, and 0VDC when the basket is stationary, then there is an issue with the hall sensor in the motor assembly DC96-01218E. Read More...
Gerry September 28, 2019 for Model Number WF210ANW/XAA01 My machine was bouncing around. Took it apart and found that the spider arm was broken. How do I know if the balance rings are ok. They sound like there is liquid and small parts floating in them when I slowly rotate them. If I have to replace both of them and the spider arm it will be time for a new one. Thanks for any help.
