Mateo May 11, 2016 for Model Number RS264ABSH/XAA-0000 The fridge side defrost heater is bad on part number DA96-00020Q. It is one unit which includes the heat element. I checked with my appliance repairman, and they indicated that rather than replacing the whole evaporator assembly they could add a new part, which is shown on the diagram, part number DA97-00111C (a drip pan heater) also used on the freezer assembly. This would be added and I assume plugged in where the old heater was attached. I don't believe this would be able to heat the entire evaporator and I would still have the defrost problem. What are your thoughts with this solution? Could this possibly provide enough heat to defrost the entire assembly and avoid having to replace DA96-00020Q?
1 Answer Hello Mateo. We do not recommend changing the design of any manufacturers products. Adding that heater would change the design of the unit. Read More...
John March 13, 2016 for Model Number RS2545SH Frig. side evaporator freezing up. How do I determine whether the fan motor is not running or heater is out.
1 Answer Hello John. Hold the door switch closed and listen for the fan to come on and run. If it is running, test the heater with a meter. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Eric February 13, 2016 for Model Number RS2578SH Both the freezer and the refrigerator are both not cooling on my Samsung RS2578SH side-by-side refrigerator (mfg date 8-2004). The freezer stopped working first, the temprature light was flashing 50 degrees. About two weeks later the refrigerator stopped cooling as well and th fridge temp light started flashing like the freezer. I have replaced the motherboard and the compressor relay and that did not fix the problem. The compressor appears to be working becaus when i put may hand on it i can feel some vibration and it is warm. The comressor cooling fan in working. Any suggestions that you can give is very much appreciated. Thank you! Eric
1 Answer Eric, You will want to check the frost pattern in the freezer compartment on the evaporator coils. If there is very little frost on the coils then the issue will be a sealed system failure and you will want to contact an authorized refrigeration technician to repair the unit. Read More...
Fernando August 19, 2015 for Model Number rs2533sw Where do I clip the sensor that comes with the coil yellow cable
1 Answer Hello Fernando. There should be a clip on the evaporator that holds the sensor. Read More...
Phyllis S March 26, 2015 for Model Number RS267LBBP From reading so many questions/answers, it looks like my defrost heater is not working BUT that it is integrated with DA96-00020Q part so the entire evaporator assembly will have to be replaced. However, since it is a sealed system and I am a "mere mortal", would like to know what a rough estimate to get a licensed HVAC person to replace this. Can I order the actual part from you even though I have to hire someone else install it? I am now being told that if the evaporator has to be replaced, the compressor may too since it is a sealed system. About how much should it cost to get a repairman to fix this?
1 Answer Phyllis, Yes you would order the part from us but unfortunately we could not advise of a cost to have it replaced as we do not deal with service providers and each would have different costs. Read More...
Patrick March 02, 2015 for Model Number RS2545SH What is the correct part number for the evaporator/heater assembly for the refrigerator side of this appliance? I placed an ohm meter across the terminals of the connector of the heating element and it showed "open". I used two different meters, one analog and one DVM. Both showed 0 continuity. I believe this would indicate a bad heating element. (Samsung RS2545SH).
1 Answer Patrick, the evaporator assy for the refrigerator section is part number DA96-00395C. Thanks. Read More...

George January 17, 2015 for Model Number RFG297AARS/XAA I have a pin hole in my evaporator coil from vibration on the factory zip ties. It is still under warranty for the pressure side for a few more months. Samsung is a joke to deal with. Can I patch the hole with liquid steel or something. It was recharged with refrigerant from sears so it is working fine. This will only last till the Freon leaks out again. Thanks
1 Answer Hello George, I'm sorry but a repair like this requires soldering since the sealed system can hold over 400 PSI. I would recommend to replace the evaporator coil. Since this requires special training and certification, I would recommend having a factory authorized servicer perform the repair. Read More...
Ali January 15, 2015 for Model Number RS2545SH Thanks for answering my earlier question regarding fridge-side frosting. My heater measures 0 ohms (short circuit) as opposed to what I see as the common problem of the heater being open circuit. Now 0 ohms wouldn't make much sense to me as it would blow a fuse or two. I measured the resistance at the terminals of the heater at the heater itself (not at the PCB). I do get error code 7 and my temperature sensor seems to be fine, reading about 6.7 kohm at 60 degree. So is this still a heater problem or something more (or hopefully less) serious?
1 Answer Ali, Based on the information it sounds like the heater element would be the issue with unit. Read More...
Ali January 15, 2015 for Model Number RS2545SH My fridge has also the apparently common problem of the fridge-side icing. How can I know for sure if the problem is because of the defroster and not the main PCB? Also, where is the PCB location? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Ali. Test the heater. Should read around 5k ohms. As for the board, it is located on the back of the unit by the compressor. Read More...
