  • Interprets signals from the user interface and internal sensors
  • Directs power to components via onboard electronics
  • Monitors system status and may store/output diagnostic error codes
  • Common failure symptoms: won't start, unresponsive or blank display, stuck/erratic cycles, or recurring error codes after a power reset
What's included: 1 electronic control board Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before servicing; verify no voltage is present
  • Use ESD protection and handle the PCB by edges only
  • Photograph/label connectors and move them one at a time to the new board to prevent miswiring
  • Inspect wiring, fuses, and related components for shorts or damage and correct any root cause before powering the new board; follow the unit's tech sheet for any required post-install setup

For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM18876303)

Paul for Model Number MDB7609AWB2

Dishwasher start and cancel (drain button) wouldn't light up or start or stop the dishwasher. All the other lights and switches operate. I tried the Normal-Heated dry-normal-heated dry buttons within 6 seconds of each other like it states in the technician manual to invoke the diagnostic function and all lights worked including Start Cancel button lights. Then the dishwasher started and went thru a normal washing cycle but no heated dry etc. button lit up or dried the dishes. I am able like I said to light up all buttons except Start Cancel buttons. Is this a Control Board issue or Control Panel issue. thanks paul

First the soap dispenser failed to open. Then, a couple of weeks later, the start button wouldn't work, machine failed to turn on, however, the "heavy, normal, and light" buttons lit up. I bought a new control board and installed it in less than 15 minutes, while watching the excellent how-to video. It failed to operate. I remembered to plug it in. It still will not operate. I am stricken!! Please tell me what the problem is and let me know if I can return the control board.

I went to use the dishwasher and noticed that there was no power on the touchpad. Last year I had to replaced the touch pad due to a location issue with the start button. When I opened it up to check for power there was power to the control board. After removing the control unit I inspected the board only and found it burnt on the P9 pin for the pilot. I have tried to locate a diagram to check the other end of the pilot but have been unable to do so. Is there anything else to inspect prior to replacing the control board?

1 Answer

Erik, With the control board having a burn mark at the P9 then you will want to replace the control board.

Dishwasher does not work. The "Wash" light goes on for about 30 seconds and than the machine turns off. Had an appliance service man come out and for $89 told me it was a control board and would cost me $428 to repair. He also said the part was located in the bottom of the dishwasher and to fix it the dishwasher had to be removed. I know the control panel is in the top front panel. Two questions -1. Is there another electronic control board or other type of electronics in the bottom of the dishwasher that could cause this problem? 2. If it is the control panel in the front panel, what part # do I need to order?

1 Answer

Hello Wayne, This unit has no control in the base and will not need to be removed from its' installation to install the control board W11202746, because it is in the control panel and is accessed by removing the door liner.

I have researched this some and thought it was the electronic ribbon coated with corrosion like I have seen on youtube. Mine is not corroded like where it plugs into the control box. I did see a very little bit of brown on two lines going into the inside cover. Hello, Here is what it is doing. It will wash and drain forever and not proceed to to the next function to dry I want to get your control board W10298356 but want to make sure. Thanks, Brian

1 Answer

Hello Brian, Many times the corrosion will be present on both sides of the connection. If electrical cleaner cannot be used to clean up the connections, the part causing the connection issue will have to be replaced, (control board W11202746 or ribbon cable W10811150).

Mark for Model Number MDB6709AWQ1

After recent power surge from storm I started dishwasher – once started all the functions started to turn on at once – heater, water pump, clean cycle etc. So, I reset circuit breaker and reset using control panel (norm wash then heated dry – three times) – reset seems to cycle through all the functions. I started again using Normal and heated dry settings = once started the scrub light was blinking illuminated and dry cycle light is on.. After a few minutes of running, the delay hours light come on. Recommendations would be appreciated!
