Tom April 22, 2013 for Model Number Maytag MDB7749AWM2 All the lights and buttons with the exception of the Start button work, but the dishwasher won’t start. I did the diagnostic test and the washer does run a short cycle and during that cycle you have to push the start button and the start button works when in that mode. I am trying to figure out of it is the control board or the control panel that is the problem. I have looked at the ribbon connector and it doesn't appear to have any problems, but it’s hard to tell. Now the last time I tried the diagnostic keys, they don’t work either, although lights still light.

Jim March 25, 2013 for Model Number MD87749AWM1 The door switch on my model was replaced under warranty, then the control board, under warranty as well, it went out again, but this time warranty was up, I replaced it and noticed that one of the plugs were melting, it worked for about a week, and went out again, now I have replaced the circuit board and complete harness because of the melted plugs and still the unit won't start with the start button, I can do the diagnostic modes, but that doesn't wash my dishes. Any help would be greatly appreciated, this dishwasher it only a year and a half old.

Eric March 15, 2013 for Model Number Mdbh989ww1 My dishwasher stops working mid cycle. It seems to stop at different places each time. When it stops all the lights go out and the buttons stop working. To get it to turn on again I have to unplug the power for a few seconds.when I do the diagnostic button test it starts and runs as if normal, then shuts off mid cycle. All the buttons seem to work before I run the dishwasher . Could this need a new control board ?

Tony December 12, 2012 for Model Number MDBH979SAB1 The control panel lights and I am able to select wash options but when I push the start button the dishwasher does not start. The dishwasher is less than two months old and I know that it is still under factory warranty but I was wanting to get an idea of what might be the problem before the service tech shows up next week. Tom November 19, 2012 for Model Number mdb7809aww2 Unit wouldn't start, but had panel lights. Then I removed and reinstalled door latch, result = no panel lights at all. I checked the bimetal fuse, it passes a voltage. I checked the power cord and connections seems ok. So I put in new control board and door latch, still no panel light. Suggestions?
1 Answer Hi. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Find the supplied tech sheet behind the lower kick plate or under the control board. The hot wire from the junction box is black. It goes up to the door switch. Once the door is closed the switch sends it to the non-resettable thermal fuse part # W10258275 then to the L1 terminal tab on the control panel on the black wire with the white stripe. Verify voltage at the board at this point P6 and at the P2 connection that has the white w/blue wire. If there is no power there then replace the thermal fuse. Thank You. Read More...

The dishwasher shows no lights nor signs of life when any of the mode buttons are pushed. Will replacement of the control module Whirlpool p/n W10250166 correct the problem ? The mother board appears to be receiving power for when I unplug, then reconnect the 2 leads to the capacitor there is a spark. Also, when I do this the dishwasher will run part of a cycle for a minute then die again.

Tom November 05, 2012 for Model Number MBD7749AWB2 Heated dry light and button stays on. Tried to take out of lock mode but unsuccessful. Now lights in middle that show clean,dry, wash are out and wash light blinks.
