The Suspension Rod Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This kit includes four suspension rods designed to support the washing machine's tub assembly. By absorbing vibrations and stabilizing the tub during the spin cycle, these rods play a crucial role in reducing noise and preventing the washing machine from moving excessively.

Causes of a bad Suspension Rod Kit can include normal wear and tear, overloading the washing machine, or frequent heavy cycles that put extra strain on the rods.

Symptoms of a bad Suspension Rod Kit include:

  • The washing machine is excessively noisy during the spin cycle.
  • The tub seems unbalanced or moves more than usual, even with light loads.
  • The washing machine "walks" or moves from its original position during operation.
  • Unfinished cycles or error codes indicating an unbalanced load.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Sonya, First thing, we need is a model number for the washer so we can check and verify the correct parts were ordered and installed. Second, recheck the installation of all the parts according to the service manual or the repair video attached to the W10820048 Suspension rod kit. A slight difference(1/4-1/2 in.) in the tub height could be normal, but not an inch or inches.

William, the suspension rods should not allow the tub to drop that low when a small load of laundry is placed inside. Your unit uses two of each suspension rod, WH16X10057 and WH16X543. In regards to the rubber dampening strap WH01X39337, as one has broken it would be recommended to change them all to ensure even wear and proper operation.

Robert, you will first want to check that there is nothing in between the tub and basket. If there is nothing in between the tub and basket, you will want to then check the rotor to ensure that it is not grinding and that it does not have debri between it and the stator assembly. If all of these check good, then you more than likely have a bearing W10435302 that is failing.

Hello Bricyce, You should check the Rotor Position Sensor, (RPS), and the RPS Harness. These are common failures with this design.

Jamie, You will want to pull the inner tub and check the hub on the unit. This would be the most likely cause for the grinding noise which will normally be caused by overloading of the unit.
