Wei Z March 06, 2018 for Model Number Kenmore Elite 59676579600 Hi, I have a Kenmore 59676579600. I'd like to know what is the resistance reading of this sensor at 32°F. Thanks.
1 Answer Wei, At 36 degrees the resistance of this thermistor should be 29.5K ohms and at 0 degrees it should be 86.3K ohms. At 0 it will be 10K. Read More...
Richard February 03, 2018 for Model Number MFF2557HEB Ice is building up on back wall of the freezer and fridge compartment is running on the warm side. Drain line is clear. Fridge seems to be running constantly. Will replacement of the thermistor resolve this problem ?
1 Answer Richard, With there being ice on the freezer wall this sounds like a defrost issue and will want to check the defrost heater WP67002493 and thermostat WP67003426 for continuity. If they have continuity then the issue will be the control board WPW10503278. Read More...
Kev-Web January 14, 2018 for Model Number WRF767SDEM01 Evaporator coil in refrigerator keeps freezing up. The thermistor resistance is 2.9k ohms at 74deg f and 6K ohms at 42 deg, Can;t figure out how to remove panel to check damper. Any suggestions? Whirlpool WRG767SDEM01
1 Answer Kev-Web, Based on the information the thermistor kit would most likely be the issue with the resistance only being 6K at 42 degrees. Also check the defrost thermostat and the heater to make sure that they are good. If they check ok then the control board would be the issue. Read More...
John Downey January 05, 2018 for Model Number MFI2569VEM1 What are correct thermistor resistances at 37 degrees and 77 degrees?
1 Answer John, The Temperature sensor resistance would be 10K ohms at 77 degrees and 29.5K ohms at 36 degrees and 86.3K ohms at 0 degrees. Read More...
Guy August 25, 2017 for Model Number KBFS25EVWHO both freezer and fridge stop working. For a couple of weeks had noticed that the freezer was working intermittently. Any suggestions. Hear clicking noise that comes on then off very short while later--i'm assuming its trying to run the compressor but it is not responding?
1 Answer Guy, The most likely cause for this issue will be a faulty start device part number WPW10197428. Read More...
Gary M. August 21, 2017 for Model Number GSS30C6EYY03 Found refrigerator at 60° and ice melting in freezer. Temperature for freezer set at 0° and fresh food at 35° degrees. Compressor was not running. Cleaned dust from coils under refrigerator. Unplugged refrigerator and plugged back in and compressor started running and kept running dropping temperature in refrigerator to 18° and freezer to -6°. Compressor finally shut off and am concerned it runs too long. Found the thermistors under small covers on wall of freezer and refrigerator and would like to check them at control board to rule them out as problems but don't know which wires to check.
1 Answer Hello Gary, The unit will have to run for quite some time to lower the temperature in the fresh food and freezer compartments to a satisfactory temperature since the load in the unit and the liners will have to come down to proper temperature also. I would suspect a bad relay on the main control board W11088499 considering the description of the failure. The thermistors will be fine since it ran until cool and shut down when properly cooled. Ed A. July 28, 2017 for Model Number MFI2568AES The freezer works okay, the icemaker works okay. The fresh food section only cooled down to about 52 degrees. I have steamed the coils and made sure the drain is clear. I started emptying it and overnight it started cooling down to 37 degrees. Would this be the thermistor or the circuit board? Is there an upper and lower thermistor? I could not find an upper one in the light unit. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Ed, There is only one thermistor in the fresh food section and only one in the freezer section. The one in the freezer is in the top left and the one in the fresh food section is in the light assembly. If the unit cooled down this much from just clearing the evaporator coils, there is likely a defrost issue. Read More...
Paul July 27, 2017 for Model Number GI5SVAXVQ00 location of themistor in the upper frig & installation
1 Answer Paul, The refrigerator thermistor is located inside the refrigerator light assembly in the ceiling. if you look closely you'll see the three "slots" molded into the frame. First remove power to the refrigerator, then remove the clear plastic light lense. Squeeze the tabs on each side of the light cover and pull the cover down to release it from the frame. Remove the light bulbs. Use a flat blade screwdriver to release the four tabs along the sides of the frame, insert the screwdriver into the long slots and pry out carefully. Then use a clean or taped putty knife or similar tool and carefully pry the front edge of the light assembly housing, this will release the the tabs holding the front of the housing to the ceiling. Disconnect the wire harness from the cabinet liner and lower the assembly. Cut the wires to the thermistor and unclip the thermistor from the frame. Splice the wires and make sure the connection is water tight and moisture resistant, attach the replacement thermistor to the frame and reverse the procedure and restore power to the refrigerator. Ann June 20, 2017 for Model Number Maytag Mdl MF12569VEQ1 Unit kept running & was freezing food in upper section of this French door bottom mount freezer model. Hubby decided it needs new thermistor, but cannot find where the thing is on this model. He has checked behind a panel at the back where there are a lot of coils, under the light cover, etc. Where is it on this model?
1 Answer Hello Ann, Model MFI2569VEQ1 uses thermistor 12002355 and it is located inside the fresh food upper light assembly as per the manufacturers' service manual. Instructions provided as as follows: Remove upper light assembly by squeezing tabs on each side of the light cover and pull cover down to release it from the holding tabs. Remove the light bulbs and use flat blade screwdriver to release 4 tabs by inserting it in the long slots and prying out. Use a taped putty knife to carefully pry front edge of light assembly plastic housing. When released, disconnect connector that is plugged into the liner. The wires to the thermistor will have to be cut and the thermistor removed from the clip. Splice in the new thermistor and use grease or petroleum jelly to deter corrosion and moisture in the connections. Reassemble in the reverse order. Read More...
Tyler March 20, 2017 for Model Number mfI2569VEM My vegetables are freezing. I did replace the thermistor in the refrigerator. It did not fix the problem. I noticed the wire nuts are not threaded so I wound the wires together, capped them with the wire nut and used electrical tape to hold them on. I assume the chances are very small of another bad thermistor. For my model, is the next logical step to replace the control board? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Tyler, You should first try setting the fresh food compartment to a Colder setting to increase air circulation. If this does not correct the issue in the next 24 hours, the control board WPW10310240 should be replaced. As a note, to use a wire nut correctly, hold the two wires beside one another without twisting and twist the wire nut onto the wires. This can be seen on utube videos if needed. Read More...
