For Whirlpool Refrigerator Icemaker Cycling Thermostat (Part Number: OEM18030420)

Jessie for Model Number KSFS20QEwho

recently my Kitchenaid sidebyside refigerator does not always run automatically within several hours, as the result the frozen meat is thawed. I have to turn the freezer switch to "off" position and then turn back to "3 position", the freezer runs. It always work (run) by turning switch "off" and turning back to "3 position". What is the problem with my refiferator? how much it will cost me to repair? it is a 10-year old refigerator in goodship, It works well until a month ago with this strange problem. Your kind and early advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much and look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Jesse, There are two possibilities, A faulty ADC Board 12050506 (most likely) and the freezer cold control R0161092 . You can test the ADC control ( make sure the compresor is running, open the fridge door and press and release the door light switch four(4) times within six(6) seconds. The compressor should shut off and the fridge should go into the defrost cycle(21 minutes). Good Luck and Thanks

Hello Bob. You will need to test the thermistors WP2188819 in both the freezer and the refrigerator. If the thermistors are good, then the main control board 8201527 will need to be replaced on the unit. The freezer will continue to run, if the refrigerator is bad, beacuse the refrigerator gets it cold air from the freezer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Thermistor Temperature Resistance 77°F..................10,000 ohms 36°F..................29,500 ohms 0°F....................86,300 ohms

Needinghelp, First, check and make sure theres nothing under or blocking the air openings in the damper assembly, on the top shelf, re diecting the air. Then remove the control panel, and check the freezer temperature knob, lever and adjusting cable for operation. Remove the styrofoam block from the damper assembly and check to insure there is no ice or moisture inside and the air tunnels and damper assembly are clear. Also make sure the end of the temperature control bulb, and barrel, are properly aligned with the opening on the control panel assembly. Thanks and Good Luck

Hello Larry. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the water valve 4318046 is bad and needs to be replaced. If the icemaker is over filling, you will need to replace the water valve. Hope this helps.

Matthew, It sounds like you may have a defrost issue. The part number you supplied, has nothing to do with your complaint. First thing to do is open the freezer door and check the back wall of the compartment for a build up of frost or ice on the wall. Carefully, press in on the back wall and listen for a crackling noise, there could be a build up of ice on the evaporator, restricting the air flow. You can also remove the back wall, and de ice the evaporator with a hair dryer or heat gun(on the low heat setting), and then let us know what you find, so we can assist you from there. Thanks and Good Luck

Jamie, are you sure the freezer is not working? If the fridge is working, the freezer has to work(in your style refrigerator) You may want to remove the freezer shelves and check for a frost or ice build up on the back wall, and make sure the light bulb goes out when the door is closed. At this point it is not the control thermostat. Thanks and Good Luck

Hi Manny. You will need to see if you are getting 120vac to the diffuser. If so then the diffuser is part # WP627985. It is stuck open and allowing too much freezer air to come in. The thermister also tells the control board the temp's and will effect the diffuser operations. This part # is WP2188819. Thank you.
