Robert H July 27, 2012 for Model Number TM18V2W When the refrigerator and freezer are on the coldest setting the freezer will not get any colder than 20% . While we can make ice in a tray the items in the refrigerator are only cool and don't seem to get cold. Do you have any suggestions for how to resolve this issue? Thank you!
1 Answer Robert, the first thing to check and clean is the condenser coil, It's on the bottom of the fridge, and you'll need to remove the kick plate, and vaccuum and clean the condenser coils and surrounding area, as best possible. Also check the evaporator fan, it may be running at a slow speed and not moving the air properly. Thanks Read More...
1 Answer Hello Joel. If the gears are not turning in the icemaker, and there is power to it, you will need to replace the icemaker WPW10190965 in the unit. Read More...

Paul P. March 21, 2012 for Model Number kenmore m/n 767-9894250 The unit compressor is working properly and lowers the temp to O degrees F. The motor-modl (wpl w10190935) has been replaced today. The water valve works when external power is applied. The motor-modl is getting power. All wiring ohms out as good. The harvest thermostat ohms open at room temp. With water hooked up and the unit turned on the water valve does not open and the motor does not operate. Any thoughts on the problem?
1 Answer Hi Paul. I would use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. At the face of the ice maker head, do you get 120 vac at the "L" and "N" ports of the meter ? If not then remove the ice maker and compare where the freezer wall/ ice maker female connector, make sure you have 120 vac where the black and white wire will hook up at the ice maker wire harness. If there is no voltage at the freezer wall connector then remove the freezer back wall and find the open wire behind there at the plug and electrically tracing the lost voltage . Use the supplied wiring diagram in the controls or behind the lower kick plate grill. Usually this is not the case. Make sure the black in-line- fuse in the ice maker wire harness is closed and not open. Make sure that you have the wire harness physically plugged in all the way. Once you have the supplied voltage, then there is a thermostat that has to close behind the head module that needs to be closed when the freezer temperature falls below 14°. If the thermostat does not sense the correct cycle temperature, then it will not close and allow the voltage to pass to the motor and let the ice maker head rotate and call for 7 seconds of water from the lower unit water valve. You need to set the volt meter already set up to read incoming voltage at the water valve. Use a # 14 GAUGE 3 " Long wire to strip off the insulation approx. 3/8" on each end. Push it into the I/Maker Head assy. on the "t' and "h" front terminals. With the bail arm down, watch the notched mark on the front white gear dial. It will rotate to the 4:00 position as then the 7 seconds then sends the 120 vac to the water valve below. Remove the wire when the mark rotates between 7 and 8:00. Also make sure the bail arm is pushed fully into the back of the head assy. or it will not call for water. As the ice maker thermostat is replaced then use a liberal amount of alumilastic cement part # WP4317852 on the face of the thermostat before it is finally placed on the back of the ice maker cube area. (This is where it senses the ice cubes frozen temperatures). Make sure the ejection blades are freely moving and not locked up . Use a dab of food grade white grease on the ejection back fill cup ares. Thank You. Read More...
Ron G. March 20, 2012 for Model Number GT1SHTXMQ04 Freezer - the back of the freezer builds up ice. I have removed the back panel in the freezer to see whats up. The freezer drain pan is full of ice. It looks to me like a problem with the defrost cycle or defrost heating element. Can you help me with what is wrong? Where is the defrost cycle/timer located? The fridge does have a ice maker installed.
1 Answer Hello Ron. WP2304093 is the defrost timer. It is located in the control panel. You will need to test the heater WPW10140847 and thermostat WP2321800 and see if they read closed for continuity when cold. If they are good, you will need to replace the timer board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
