I figured that with their no hassle return policy it was a no brainer trying to replace the part myself. The process went fairly smooth. If you're replacing this part yourself, be sure to disconnect your machine from the power outlet first to avoid...

Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP3951769
This part is a washing machine timer. This is the component that controls the washing machine functions and the length of time for each of the cycles. Signs that the timer has gone bad can vary. For example, the washing machine may only wash but will not spin or drain. It might skip cycles or stall mid-cycle. The washing machine could become stuck on a cycle also. If this is happening, the repair person can check for continuity through the timer motor by using a multimeter. If it measures infinite resistance, the timer will need to be replaced. Unplug the washing machine from the wall before trying to replace this part. The person performing the replacement procedure should wear work gloves for safety during the process. This timer is compatible with washing machines that are manufactured by Kenmore and Whirlpool. It is sold individually. This part comes directly from the manufacturer.
