Washer won't drain or leaving standing water? This drain pump removes water at cycle end. DIY-friendly repair, typically 30 minutes with basic tools.
I opened the cover panel of the control board. I visually checked for burns on the board and verified all connectors were firmly seated. From this manual, I verified that the drain pump resistance is good, the start capacitor is good, and the lid switch is good. I entered diagnostic service mode. Connects motor to drum for rotation during wash cycles. Replace if washer won't spin, makes squealing noises, or drum doesn't turn. Verify fit with model.
I found a YouTube video, order the parts about midnight Saturday and-they came in the mail before lunch on Tuesday. I laid the washer on the rear panel, removed both pulleys to clean them, installed the speed sensor. bolted the pulleys back in place, installed the new belt-making sure it was centered and everything moved freely, and attached the belt/pulleys cover. I set the washer back up, reattached the water lines, placed the drain tube, and plugged in back in. Works like new !!! 30 minutes... Read more
Washer won't start, spin, or complete cycles? A faulty main control board often causes these issues. Moderate DIY repair, typically under 30 minutes.
GE Washer m/n GTW460ASJ6WW would allow other fill levels, but when set to "super" it would never stop filling. Checked water inlet valve (by initiating a fill and unplugging the unit) to see if the inlet valve was sticking open, that was not the issue. Decided to replace the board even though it is a significant fraction of the cost of a new washer. Local appliance stores didn't have the board but APP did, and of course, they are open 24/7 while my local part stores have decided the weekend is... Read more

Washer making grinding noise during agitation or won't agitate? This transmission assembly transfers motor power to the drum. Moderate DIY, 2 hours.
Using repair help suggestions from other users and youtube, I narrowed it down to the transmission (part #320) mainly because it was a metal-to-metal noise. The parts came in one day, thank you AppliancePartsPros.com. I installed the transmission but the noise was still there. Unfortunately, I didn't investigate enough and found a youtube video that suggested it could be the mode shifter (part #325) and that's what it was. I still saved money because having a service tech fix this problem... Read more
Washer won't fill or leaks when off? A faulty water inlet valve causes filling issues or constant dripping. DIYers replace this in about 1 hour.
Ordered new valve assembly, part arrived 2-3 days, installed part same day it arrived. Some difficulty getting to the two screws holding it in due to small area to work.
