I unplugged the fridge and took all the food and shelving out of the freezer and then proceeded to take off the bottom sliding drawer rack on both sides off (4 Phillips head screws). Then took off the light bulb cover and then the light bulb. Then the back wall that covers the coils and tubes that the refrigerant runs through ( 2 screws with hex head). After sliding out the back wall I could see that the entire coil area was frosted and iced up. I took a blow dryer and melted all of it over... Read more

Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?". My refrigerator is 13 yrs old and began to build up frost in the ice cube shoot and the water tube began to freeze up over night. The flapper door was not closing completely. I simply removed the control panel by pulling up and out on the bottom edge, the edge is only about 1/8 inch thick, so don't reach in to far. You should be able to feel a small division line between the control panel and the refrigerator. No screw driver was needed to expose the 4 mounting screws of the inner dispenser... Read more

Causes of a bad refrigerator main control board can include electrical malfunctions, power surges, or physical damage due to moisture or impact over time.
Symptoms of a bad main control board include:
The indication was that when I tried to use the icemaker or water dispenser, the green LED on the front would dim and the ice maker dispenser wouldn't work. It was intermittent at first, but this indicated it may be a power management issue, in that insufficient voltage was getting to the ice dispenser motor. I unplugged the unit to reset the electronics for about a minute, and when I plugged it back it the compressor would try to turn on (solenoid or relay would click about every two... Read more
The Refrigerator Union Connector is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. We noticed a puddle of water in front of the fridge a couple of months ago-dried the floor up both times and thought someone had dropped ice-or spilled water. A couple of weeks ago there was water dripping through the dropped tile ceiling in the basement. I shut off the water for the water supply to the fridge at the copper pipe in the basement and removed some of the tiles which felt a little damp. It still dripped all day. When my spouse came home he pulled down more of the tiles. It was as... Read more

We replaced the main circuit board and the LED started to work and the condenser fan worked, but all we had were relay clicking sounds, but no cooling. The compressor had become so hot trying to work when the main circuit board was amiss, that it had popped the over temperature sensor on its side. As some one point out, if you remove the PTC+OLP assembly with the capacitor on it, and shake it, you will hear a rattle inside---and that is bad. We ordered a second round of parts from... Read more
The Lower Door Gasket is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. This gasket is for creating a tight seal around the dishwasher door to prevent water from leaking out during cycles.
Symptoms of a bad Lower Door Gasket include:
Causes of a bad door gasket can include regular wear and tear from use, improper door alignment, excessive cleaning chemicals that degrade the material, or thermal damage from high-temperature cycles.
The repair was super simple. Just slide out the old seal and slide in the new. The INTERESTING part was getting access to the seal at the bottom of the door. Just remove the front of the door -- unscrew eight screws around the edge. Try to pull off the door front. Finally locate two hidden screws underneath the two bottom corners. After several tries, find that the screws require a wrench to loosen. I pull off the door front, making only a few scratches, some on my hand, then try to pry up... Read more

All parts arrived in one box - I purchased the tub gasket, lower door gasket and lower door seal. My existing parts were visibly pretty worn out, dishwasher is 12 years old (maybe should have just bought anew one?). Tub gasket was pretty easy, it took me a while to make sure it was even all the way around, after attest run and the subsequent drying heat it fits nicely. Lower door seal went as video, all good, my other one was destroyed from the heat cycles. Could not get the lower door seal... Read more

Symptoms of a bad Hinge Arm Link include:
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
I watched the repair video and ordered the part ( I luckily ordered two links). The video was not exactly for my model dishwasher but I did follow the instruction for removal from the cabinet. Since my model was not shown, I was looking to see how the door spring and the Hinge Arm Link was supposed to be set up. I had the impression that the door spring and link was only on the right side of the dishwasher. I finally figured it out and took pictures of the set-up for the next time the link... Read more

These issues can arise from regular use, buildup of detergent residue, or accidental impact.
Symptoms of a bad detergent and rinse aid dispenser include:
Bought the replacement dispenser from APPros.com (of course). The video shows a front control panel, and our dishwasher has the 'hidden' control panel on the top of the door. So here's the difference: 1) You need to take out all the screws, except the two near the latch at the top. The other video shows only taking out the bottom six screws because the remainder of the screws hold the front control panel. I used a couple paint cans with rags on top to hold the corners of the door when... Read more
