My appliance repair guy checked out the problem, but the stack washer dryer required the contractor to dismantle the cabinet to allow the repair to occur. So i wanted the parts available for the repair, so we would not have to have the dryer pulled apart in a small space for an extended time i ordered the parts on Friday afternoon and they arrived at my home before noon on Saturday! The contractor and the repairman were able to coordinate the repair on Tuesday morning, and though the... Read more

I manually rotated the drum and could hear a noise in the lower right hand corner of the dryer. I turned off the breaker, removed the front covers to expose the blower fan. Blower fan was no longer attached to shaft and hitting the housing. Ordered a new blower assembly, rear bearing kit and lint filter on Friday at 09:00 AM and they arrived the next day at 13:00 (with standard shipping !!). 15 mins to troubleshoot. 30 minutes to replace parts and re-assemble. Running like new again !! ... Read more

Dryer won't heat or start? This thermal fuse cuts power when temperatures get too high. Test with a multimeter for continuity. Easy DIY repair.
Did some dryer repair research (dryer not heating) on the internet. Bought an ohm meter, opened up the dryer and tested the cut-off-T, high limit thermostat, dryer igniter, flame sensor, cycling thermostat for continuity. The igniter was bad, the other parts tested ok. Went online to AppliancePartsPros.com searched for a new igniter for my specific dryer model, found the right replacement igniter and watched the video on how to replace the igniter. Because my dryer is old (15+ years) and I... Read more
Dryer not heating or overheating? This heating element assembly with enclosure and insulators is the likely fix. DIY install in 30 minutes.
Our dryer suddenly began overheating while drying. Outside of the dryer cabinet was uncomfortably warm to the touch, dryer drum was hot, charred smelling laundry. Based on what I read it was likely one of two things - a failed cycling thermostat or a shorted heating element. First I cleaned the vent hose and ducting to ensure good airflow, which I had. I opened the circuit breaker first, then took off the door and front cover. I started with a thorough cleaning of the dryer with a vaccuum... Read more

Dryer not heating or producing warm air? This heating element assembly often solves no-heat issues. DIY-friendly repair, typically 10-20 minutes.
I figured there could only be a couple reasons why the dryer would not heat so I did some research. I read where you could test for continuity on the parts to determine which one was bad. A friend referred me to this site, I looked up the part for my particular model, ordered and replaced the part. It could not have been any easier. I will come back to this site with my future appliance parts needs for sure! Read more

It was easy to find the part on appliance parts pros. Once I found it I studied the diagram and determined that there were 3 screws in the drum that needed to be removed. I disconnected power and then removed 3 interior screws. Once I did that I removed the back cover and removed the single screw on the bottom side of the air duct that held it in place connected to the heat tube. I then reversed disassembly. I want to tell you this is a 2 person job. In order to assemble it you need to... Read more

I encountered a high pitched squeal and loud rumbling. I figured the sounds were likely the rollers despite not matching other sounds on the repair videos for other dryers. The repair video for dryer rollers on AppliancePartsPros.com is of little use until Minute 2:56 because this Electrolux 517 model uses mostly Phillips head screw to fasten the front and top panels in place. You may find one latch at the top front center that holds the top and front panels in place. After unplugging the... Read more
