Frigidaire Range / Cooktop / Oven Control Board

My husband turned the oven to cook one night and there was a loud pop noise. After that there was no power getting to the control board and thus leaving my oven useless I watched the very easy to follow video posted on here associated with my part and I felt confident I would be able to make this repair on my own. Replace relay board. This part wasn’t too difficult, remove doors, racks, and 2 mounting screws on the sides. Then slide the unit out until you can access the top panel. Remove the 5 screws on the panel and then the panel. Unplug the board, remove 2 screws and release the clips holding the board board. We pulled the unit out and removed the back covers. Nothing looked burnt out or shorted. Called a friend who repairs / sells appliances for a living in another country he diagnosed it over the phone and of course added the proper: " I can't be sure but this is the most likely remedy". I called a few local parts suppliers and got extremely poor service so I tried a large retailer known for their appliances and service. Before we replaced the board, my wife tried to replace just the element. We had one we had ordered several years ago when this same thing happened. When that didn't work we replaced the board and could see where the old board was damaged so we figured this was the solution. It would have been except the bottom element my wife used to replace the old element (which was fine but had been thrown out figuring the new one was new so why keep the old one) was 1" shorter in the back than the old... Replaced the control board. Labeled the 5 wires before removing them, then took the control board apart looking for a burnt connection found it and ordered a new board. To remove the touch pad i first heated the edges with a heat gun and removed it in one piece. Read more

The AppliancePartsPro website quickly identified the part. 2 days after ordering, the part arrived and after watching the instruction video it took me 15 minutes to replace it. unscrewed the back, unplugged the board and unscrewed it; screwed in the new board and plugged it in. Replaced the Controller (mother board). I previously replaced the temperature probe (316217002) but that did not resolve the problem. Replacing the Controller (318185446 / AP3583606) was much easier and quicker than replacing the probe. Simply remove the 6 or 8 screws that secure that range top and the top lifts easily exposing the Controller. There are only 4 electrical connections that easily unplug and reattach. After some testing, it appeared that both elements were bad. After installing the new elements, the problem remained the same. Even when I tested the voltages it appeared that the Oven Control Board was good. However, since that was really the only part left to replace, I ordered it. Once installed the oven is back to normal. Received my Control Panel and Overlay 2 days after it was ordered!!!! Now I can bake cookies for the holidays!! Sweet!!! Read more

Went to appliance parts pro web sight and found that it was either the temp probe or the oven control board so I ordered both and a new over lay as mine was 15 years old and watched the video on how to change out the parts when the parts arrived there had been updates and they looked different so I called appliance parts pro and there representative was able to look up and find that they were the correct parts and they went in very easy Read more

I chatted with Elizabeth and she stated I needed to replace the clock/electronic control. I watched the video and ordered the clock/electronic control, but I did not review the “Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You” on which one person states “Installed replacement, old face plate clued, new part did not have new face plate”. Control unit/clock-timer is located at front of wall oven, so did not have to pull out oven to replace. The actual control unit replacement was easy - with circuit breaker/power shut off, remove panels to gain access, unplug old control unit, plug in new and replace panels, a total of 16 screws and less than 30 minutes time. The stove became real hot and smoke came from the back. The display read F10. We turned off the breaker. After reading up on the internet and in the manual I turned the oven on again. Sure enough, the broiler element turned on instead of the oven one. I turned off the power and took the back panel off. The burned up relay was super obvious.
