The French Door Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is designed to create a tight seal around the edges of the refrigerator's French doors, preventing warm air from entering and cool air from escaping. This gasket helps to maintain the internal temperature, ensuring energy efficiency and keeping food fresh for longer periods.
You should replace the French door gasket if it becomes damaged or worn out. Causes of a bad gasket can include regular wear and tear, exposure to temperature fluctuations, or physical damage such as tears or deformities. A compromised gasket can lead to air leaks, increased energy consumption, and reduced cooling efficiency.
Symptoms of a bad French door gasket include:
- Visible cracks, tears, or deformities in the gasket
- Condensation or frost buildup around the door edges
- The refrigerator door not sealing properly or feeling loose
- Increased energy bills due to inefficient cooling
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Door gaskets torn and magnetic seal not working well on Whirlpool French door refrigerator Paul A. • Sewell , NJ • August 28, 2021
Ordered new gaskets from Appliance Parts Pros, arrived in 4 days. Removed old gaskets and replaced by starting at top corner and. Pushing seal into slot. Day before, opened seal boxes and spread seals to smooth out. Took about 10 minutes to replace both door seals. Right door magnetic seal improved but not great. Adjusted level and installed a 1/16” washer in door bottom hinge, which leveled door better and improved the seal strength.
