This micro switch detects door or lid position and tells the appliance when the door is closed so cycles can start or safety interlocks stay engaged. It restores reliable door sensing and helps prevent operation with the door open. What it does:

  • Acts as a position sensor that completes or breaks the control circuit when the door/lid is closed or opened
  • Keeps the appliance from starting or continuing a cycle if the door is open (safety interlock)
  • Common symptom fix: appliance won't start, stops mid-cycle, or shows door-related error codes
  • Small electrical switch designed to mount at the door latch or frame and connect to the appliance wiring harness
What's included: One micro switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power (unplug or shut off breaker) before attempting service
  • Access may require removing panels, trim, or the door latch assembly; keep track of screws and fasteners
  • Observe wiring orientation and connector positions; replace exactly as removed or tag wires

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Micro Switch (Door/Lid) (Part Number: OEM11882109)

1 Answer

Hello Jim, This could be the water valve 242252702 closing too slowly or low water pressure to the unit if the fill tube is properly in the fill funnel.

Hello Mike. You will need to check for a defrost issue or a fan motor issue. If both are good, then go to the damper.

Alla, The first check to make is at the freezer door bottom hinge, make sure there are no loose connections, damaged or broken wires. Then press the ice dispenser lever, listen closely for a "click", your refrigerator has two actuator switches, one for the water and one for the ice. if you don't hear or feel the click from the switch when the paddle is pressed, then dismantle the dispenser and check the switch and paddle. If the switch clicks, then the most likely problem is the auger motor inside the freezer compartment, behind the ice bin, inside the bracket assembly.

Hello Mike, If the icemaker stopped full of ice, the icemaker 241798231 is at fault. If there is no ice in the icemaker, the issue can be caused by the water valve 242252702 or the icemaker assembly.

Matt, You will want to check the microswitch to see if it has continuity when you push it. Also check the dispenser lever to make sure that it is not cracked or broken. If the switch has continuity then you will want to check to see if there is power getting to the auger motor. If there is power there then the auger motor would be the issue. If not then the power board would be the most likely cause for failure.

Our ice maker has been giving us trouble off and on for quite sometime. To get it to make make ice when the switch bail is in off position we have had to move from off to on to get the unit to start making ice. three days ago I dropped the switch to on position and maker dumped one time and made no more ice. the unit is dispensing water and filter was replaced last month. It has given us very little trouble until now. 1.Tray compartments have no water in them at present. 2.No ice build-up in water supply line or spout to the tray 3.Have turned thermostat to lowest temp. setting no change. 4.No water spillage apparent in any part of freezer compart ment.

Hello Richard. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

My fridge freezer unit dispenser is stuck "ON" so if cubed ice is selected on the menu it will keep dispensing ice. If you switch to water it will keep dispensing water. If you open the door it will stop but then when you close the door it starts up again. It finally stopped after pushing the switch on the inside a bunch of times to simulate the door being closed even while it is open. Everything seems to be fine but the light on the front of the unit is now stuck on and wont go off. This happened a few days ago and now again so I know there is something wrong and all signs point to electrical. The forums I have read suggest a switch or board issue but I do not know how to go about checking which might be the problem. Do you have an idea what the problem is and if it might be the switch or board how I would check which one it is? It actually seems like it would be the board because it is the only thing common to the light, ice and water. Please help! Thank you!

Based on some troubleshooting and reading other posts, I believe I have a bad water fill switch. I currently have the ice maker removed and I'm wondering if there is a simple way to test the water fill switch? Also, the ice maker is about 4 years old. The original lasted about 4 years. The switch is about $25 and it looks like a new icemaker is $65. Is the typical ice maker life about 5 years? I'm guessing a replacement would be far more economical in the long run.

1 Answer

Hello Kevin. If I'm understanding your question correctly, you are referring to the fill switch inside the ice maker. I quit replacing individual parts in ice makers about 10 years ago because of the wear on the other components. It's been my experience that if the repair is done perfectly, you still have to go back within a few months for another repair. In light of this fact I would replace the ice maker 5303918277 as a complete assembly. I would also recommend replacing the water inlet valve 242252702. Let us know if we can further assist you.

Hello Barak. Check and make sure the solenoid 241675704 inside the refrigerator moves up and down freely and is not rusted. If it is good, you will need to order and replace the front switch 241708309 and the board switch 241708202 in the dispenser assembly. Hope this helps.

Hi Marvin. If your ice maker is not producing/harvesting then the heater mold will not release the cubes. If the ice maker head control assy. is shorted then the fill valve will still be engaged and over fill. So the ice maker is part # 5303918344. Thank you.
