  • Manages the timing and sequence of operations based on selected settings
  • Interprets signals from the user interface and internal sensors
  • Directs power to components via onboard electronics
  • Monitors system status and may store/output diagnostic error codes
  • Common failure symptoms: won't start, unresponsive or blank display, stuck/erratic cycles, or recurring error codes after a power reset
What's included: 1 electronic control board Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before servicing; verify no voltage is present
  • Use ESD protection and handle the PCB by edges only
  • Photograph/label connectors and move them one at a time to the new board to prevent miswiring
  • Inspect wiring, fuses, and related components for shorts or damage and correct any root cause before powering the new board; follow the unit's tech sheet for any required post-install setup

1 Answer

Mohammad, With the start key working during the service key test but not during the normal operation then the control board W11202746 would be the issue.

Ed, We'd have to agree with you. the "start" keypad on the control panel W10811151 has started to degrade and is making partial contacts in the circuit. Replacing the control panel/keypad assembly will solve the issue.

Sol for Model Number MDB7609AWS2

I just ordered a control panel and a control board for a Maytag dishwasher model MDB7609AWS2 from your company. The dishwasher sometimes won't start. Power cycling it and doing a reset sequence usually doesn't help get it working again. Using the information in the diagnostic sheet behind the kick panel, I tested both the keypad (all continuity tests were good) and all of its LEDs lit during the service diagnostic cycle. With the keypad ribbon cable disconnected, the control board ran the drain motor for 2 minutes, suggesting that was also good, though that's a pretty minimal test. I would like to know which of these two parts would you replace first, to see if that fixes the dishwasher? If that does it, I will return the other part. If not, I will replace both parts. Thanks for your help.

Sol, With testing the keypad being good and all the lights coming on during the diagnostics then the control board would most likely be the cause even though it ran through a 2 min drain.

Steve for Model Number MDB7749AWB1

When we select a cycle, the correct lights work--BUT when we press the start button OR the cancel button machine does not start nor does it drain--(there is no water in it). Could the hi-temp fuse be the cause--or would all lights be out? Other than that, I can only assume that the control panel (p/n W10298356) has some type of problem. I do note that the female receptacle for the door closer is very loose and the door really does not latch closed correctly. That happened after I tried to move it manually with a flat blade screwdriver. (MY FAULT) Doesn't explain why machine start light and sequence wouldn't light and machine wouldn't start.. Was intermittent for a couple of days--then finally stopped entirely.

Steve, If the "hi-temp fuse" was the issue, the dishwasher would not function and the LED's would not illuminate. Your suggestion of the control panel [W10356466] is on target (not the control board). When you dismantle the door, to access and replace the control panel, you'll need to check to see if you damaged the door latch WPW10404412 assembly or just moved something out of alignment.

Barbara, This issue would be caused by a faulty control board. The thermal cutoff is not resettable and if it were to go out the unit would not operate at all.

Hello Dave. It sounds like the control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Hello Vicki. You access the ribbon cable and pull it off the spades of the control board. You may have to wiggle it back and forth slightly to release and pull it off the board.
