For Whirlpool Wax Motor (Part Number: OEM18018804)

Jfredricks for Model Number Matag MAH3000aww

I was replacing the door latch wax motor and the machine control board (R-11 fried). The machine was unplugged. The front panel was still off and I was getting ready to install the machine control board. I accidentally bumped the door and it closed and locked. I went ahead and installed the control board and turned it on to a cycle to try to get the latch to release at the end of the cycle. It will not unlock. Is there something out of alignment keeping the latch and lock engaged? Needless to say I can't get the top open to access the wax motor or get the door unlocked, regardless of power on or off. How can I access the latch or wax motor to get the door unlocked? All cycles work but at end of any cycle the door lock light remains on permanently and the door won't open. Help please.

Hello Jfredricks. There should be a neon green cable going from the latch to the dispenser assembly. If you pull this cable it should unlock the door where you can open it. You will need to check and see if the wax motor WP22002119 is installed properly. Hope this helps.

John, A couple of checks to make first, Does the door lock, Does the tub drain completely, and are the option buttons properly pressed and locked down. Does the washer tub actually spin slow, or does it start to spin and then tumbles for a few seconds? if the washer spins but slowly, you need to check for loose wires at the control board and consider a motor control kit 12002039 if it spins then tumbles, you'll need to check for loose wires and a faulty off balance switch (there are three) WP22002044 WP22003302 . Thanks and Good Luck

The light bulb is part # WP22002263. The door lock switch is part WP22002119.The wax motor is part # WP22002119. All these parts (excluding the light), allow the door to lock and tell the board it is ready for hi-speed spin. Thank you.
