The Pump and Drive Belt Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. The Pump and drive belt kit is responsible for helping to drain water from the washer drum during the wash cycle. The pump and drive belt kit works by powering the washer's pump to remove water from the drum and out of the washer. The drive belt provides the power to turn the pump, while the pump helps to drain the water. The kit includes 1 pump belt and 1 drive belt.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Standing water in the washer drum
  • Ineffective or non-existent water drainage
  • Potential water damage or flooding caused by a faulty pump or drive belt

Causes of needing to replace the pump and drive belt kit include normal wear and tear over extended use, exposure to debris or foreign objects, or physical damage from impact or mishandling.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washer models.

Hello Oliver. You will need to check and see if the grease is coming from the transmission assembly W10172457. If so, you will need to replace the transmission assembly. Hope this helps.

George, The belt tension is maintained by the motor carriage , rollers and springs, located in the left hand front corner on the base. You do need to make sure the carriage and rollers are clean and well lubricated so they move in both directions freely and both springs are present 205000. To properly adjust the new belts, install them both, slightly loosen the three pump mount screws, from underneath hold the motor back in position, and "pinch" the pump belt together in the center, then tighten the pump mounting screws. Thanks and Good Luck

Hi George. There belts are underneath the unit. There are 2 of them. Belt kit part # 12112425. There are 2 lower Philips screws in the front panel Remove these and pull the bottom half out towards yourself. This will release the panel top clips. You need to inspect the pump to see if something is inside it. Pump part # WP6-2022030.You can pull out the unit and tilt it back while supporting it. Then you can inspect the belts, pulleys and the brake system. Rotate the main pulley one way and it will lift the internal brake spring to lift the brake, this will spin the inner basket freely. If it does not , then you may have a broken brake assy. You can rotate the opposite direction and it will allow the transmission to agitate. Clean the pulleys with paper towels and rubbing alcohol to clean for new belts. Thank You.

Victor, Recheck the belts, especially the 211125, if it is highly glazed(shiny) it could be slipping on the motor pulley and making the odor and noise. Also check the motor carriage rollers and springs, make sure the motor is free moving and well lubricated. The wash cycle and the rinse cycle are basically the same thing. If the washer is noisy and the agitator works differently, it could be due to a "cold" belt or the transmission lube could be thick and stiff and loosens up after it warms up from operation. Thanks and Good Luck

Larry, I would think you most likely have a seized tub bearing 6-2040130 and seal 6-2095720. That's more common than a locked up transmission. You may want to double check the washer in an agitate cycle,or, Test the transmission, remove the front panel, remove the belts, and raise and block up the front of the washer. Grasp the transmission pulley and turn it counterclockwise, it should be loose and somewhat easy to turn (agitate), turn it clockwise and it should lock up and the tub should start to spin, after 3/4 to 1 revolution, you may even hear or feel the tub bearing break loose. Thanks and Good Luck

Chris, You're going to need a new set of belts, but I'm pretty sure theres more to it than that. Are you sure the washer spins and drains ? Some quick checks to make : Open the lid and check for something stuck between the tub cover and spin basket. Slide the washer away from the wall a few inches, remove the front panel(two phillips head screws), raise and prop up the front of the washer and remove both belts. Check the belts for wear and burn spots, check that the motor assembly moves back and forth freely. Reach under the washer and turn the transmission pulley in both directions, Clockwise is the spin and it should take some strength to turn the pulley, counterclockwise is the agitate mode and should be easier to turn. If the pulley won't turn counterclockwise you'd have a bad transmission, if the pulley won't turn , or is extremely hard to turn in the clockwise direction, you'd have a seizee tub bearing assembly. Good Luck and Thanks

Hello Laura. You will need to lean the washer back and gain access to the belts under the bottom. Turn the belts, one at a timer and roll them off the pulleys. Then install the new belts 12112425, starting with the one on the top, and roll them onto the pulleys. Hope this helps.
