I first checked to make sure the washer was level. The washer is on a concrete floor. After watching lots of you tube videos I ordered all the parts that could be causing this problem. I ordered: Balance Ring, Suspension Pad Kit (3 rectangle plastic wear pads), Tub Suspension Pads(3 curved plastic wear pads), Suspension Spring, and a Spanner Wrench tool. First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. Motor control board was flashing 4 times, indicating that the mode shifter had an error. I disconnected the mode shifter's wire from the controller and measured the resistance between the 2 leads with an ohmmeter. Since the reading was infinite, that meant that the mode shifter coil or in-line thermal sensor was electrically open, i.e. bad. • No hot or cold water

I tested the Atc. mid level switch, with my multi tester and found it was not sending enough current to the cold water inlet valve, so it would not open and let cold water in. I replaced the switch, (it was a snap) literally it snapped in place. replace the front face and turned the water back on and plugged in the washer, and turned it on. THIE REPAIR WAS ON A WHIRLPOOL TOP LOAD WASHING MACHINE At first I suspected the leak was from the pump because I had replaced the pump 2 times over 10 years. This time with the cabinet removed and filling the tub with water, I saw water running down one of the steel support arms that go under the tub, so I was guessing that it was coming from the tub seal. In the end, with a new coupler. But I relearned old lessons the hard way. The washer is in a rental unit and the tenant complained of no spin.
