The clean light blinking 7 times. Kevin S. • Rochester , MN • January 14, 2023
After reviewing the other repair stories related to this "7 blinking light" syndrome, I contacted their support staff via Chat. I relayed my symptoms along with model number of dishwasher. She indicated that this would normally mean an issue with either the heating element, the high limit thermostat, or the control board. Since the control board was so expensive and (luckily) out of stock, I ordered only the heating element and the thermostat.
After pulling out the dishwasher and removing...

Kitchenaid dishwasher leaking on bottom left of door Neil D. • Centerbrook , CT • January 14, 2017
First tried replacing the seal around the door as that was the simple and most logical fix. Still leaked. Removed the front and upper panel to inspect. Found calcium deposit running down from under the Air Vent Assembly and wet behind the black stick-on insulation. Easy to trace the leak to the bottom of the door.
=> Ordered new Air Vent Assembly, gasket and Vent Deflector.
Parts arrived. Took 5 minutes to remove upper panel. Removed the two wires from the Air Vent Assembly. Inserted a...

The spray arm was broken and it was a kitchenaid aka junk Todd F. • Georgetown , KY • February 25, 2015
Screwed the new spray arm on. This dishwasher has been through 2 control panels, a spray arm, rack roller assembly, rollers, and far too much of my time, patience, and money. I'll never purchase another KitchenAid product.

Soap dispenser door not opening during wash cycle? This dishwasher detergent dispenser releases detergent at the right time. DIY repair in under an hour.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
My dishwasher detergent dispensor door was not opening during wash cycle and the control panel was loose because the plastic mounts for the screws were broken Reed W. • Eldon , MO • November 11, 2014
I ordered a new detergent dispenser and control assembly, watched a few videos on you tube and dived in. The repairs were pretty simple once I got started and while I was doing this I went the extra step and cleaned out the drain. I would suggest doing this annually. Pretty simple to do and only 5 screws to get to the drain and the grinder. I found plastic and several other things that would not allow the dishwasher to drain properly and probably part of the problem of dishes not getting...

Kitchenaid dishwasher kudp02frss2 leak at float switch at front right of unit Richard B. • Mahwah , NJ • December 02, 2016
Removed bottom cover, located leak at float switch, removed and replaced float switch kit.
The toughest part of the repair was removing the Float & Retainer Assembly (in the interior of the machine tank) which broke when I pushed it back and pulled it straight up as suggested in the service manual. The Float Switch Kit (attached to, and below the float, below and outside the tank) has a folding plastic cover which fastens with plastic clips. If you open the switch kit before removing the...

Dishes would't clean on the top rack and bottom dishes were wet Rajasekhar R. • Warrenton , VA • August 02, 2015
I replaced the rear tube that feeds water to the top and middle spinners, and this appears to have fixed the problem.
The middle spinner, which is attached to the bottom of the top rack, has a tube that connects to a hole in the middle of the rear tube. This hole has a rubber flap and I noticed that this flap was wide open.
The tube under the tray has a straight edge protruding from it at the back. This edge pushes the flap open and I suspect that when the water is flowing, this edge rotates...

Machine running loud grew worse until it was obvious the motor blew a bearing Robert S. • Bettendorf , IA • February 21, 2015
We initially noticed the dishwasher running loud and failing to completely clean dishes. Research suggested issues like this were normally caused by either the main circulation motor or the drain motor. Over the next week the noise worsened, and it became obvious that the circulation motor had went (loud whirring noise whenever the spin cycle kicked in).
I watched a couple youtube videos on the removal and dissassembly until I felt confident that my wife and I could handle the project. For the...

Replaced door latch parts. Michelle S. • Olmsted Twp , OH • September 05, 2017
Our 7 y/o dishwasher wouldn't close and therefore we couldn't get it to run. I called several service places who charged $75-$90 diagnostic plus parts & labor, and they were not able to get here for at least a week. I knew it was going to run at least $200. Kitchenaid wanted > $400 for a 1 YEAR WARRANTY, but it would cover this service call and any more throughout the next year. Seemed a little steep given the unit is already 7 y/o. I watched a couple videos on this site and YouTube and...

Jenn airJDB8000AWS3 dishwasher would not drain Lynden B. • Benicia , CA • December 17, 2019
Dishwasher washer would not drain after hearing glass-like particles during the drain cycle despite trying to clean the cylinder filter. Originally suspected the drain motor was damaged. After watching a video on how to replace the drain pump, I carefully energized the dishwasher (from water and electricity) then removed the dishwasher to take a look. After removal of drain hose from the pump, discovered that drain hose was connected to water inlet assembly which also needed removal to...

Dishwasher door popping opening Paul M. • Chester , NJ • November 04, 2018
We scoured the web and there are few references to this so I want to add it in case it helps.
Replacing hinges solved the popping opening issue.
We could not solve our dishwasher door issue after a number of other tries: Latch, Catch, Ropes that attach to the springs that pull the door closed.
I tend to believe the solve could be different b/c all these things work together. But for us, we were skeptical that the hinge swap would work and we were very pleasantly surprised.
