Dryer drum not turning or motor buzzing after running? A faulty drive motor is likely the cause. DIY repair with video guidance in 1-2 hours.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Motor on maytag gas dryer was buzzing at start up and eventually quit working all together Steven C. • York , PA • August 19, 2016
Saw a video on line. Looked fairly easy to replace, but there were quite a few steps. I followed the video step for step and had the motor out in less than an hour. Tested motor with an electrical tester, just to be sure that was the problem. I ordered the motor from Appliance Parts Pros on a Sunday evening. The motor was at my doorstep Tuesday morning. It took about a hour and half to get everything back together. My only suggestion would be to label all the screws as to where they go as you...

Lack of heat and long drying times Allan H. • Baroda , MI • March 06, 2016
Our Maytag gas clothes dryer was not drying like it should/used to and was making a lot of noise. After researching online I figured the vent was partially blocked and/or the blower wheel was bad. When I took it apart, the vent had very little lint in the lower elbow exiting the back of the dryer but the blower wheel was loose on the shaft and was missing the clamp. I cleaned out the vent and put a hose clamp on the blower wheel to tighten it to the shaft and tried it again. The noise was...

Would run fine but would not dry clothes something would not allow the dryer to heat Todd K. • Burr Oak , MI • March 10, 2017
For several months we could smell a slight odor of propane in the laundry room and wondered why, just didn't seem like it was enough to be overly concerned, but thought something must be wrong with the dryer, but it was still working. We just didn't know how inefficiently. Then the extra time it took to dry a load of clothes progressively seemed to get longer, but things still seemed to work fine and the clothes got dried, given enough time. Then approximately 3 weeks ago we noticed the dryer...

Catastrophic failure of the dryer cycling thermostat in a maytag neptune super stack Richard M. • Cornish , NH • October 19, 2020
Through 15 years of vibration, the Cycling Thermostat evidently had degraded to the point where one electrical connection or more came loose and caused a short. There is also a possibility that the Bakelite section of the Dryer Cycling Thermostat body separated from the metal base, simultaneously exposing all four connections to a short. The thermostat literally exploded into chunks and dust. There was a heavy arcing and then, thankfully, the thermal fuse blew and shut down power to the short...
