The Upper Wash Arm is an OEM component specifically designed for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is responsible for spraying water across the upper rack during the wash cycle to effectively clean dishes. It measures approximately 7.5 inches long by 1.37 inches wide.
Causes of a bad upper wash arm can include mineral or lime scale buildup that clogs the spray nozzles, or damage to the arm itself such as cracks or breaks that compromise its spraying ability.
Symptoms of a bad upper wash arm include:
This OEM replacement wash arm from Whirlpool is compatible with KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models as well.
The spray arm itself was fine. The problem was with the plastic parts that held it in place. I had to order an entire replacement spray arm assembly to get the small plastic pin and collar I needed. It took a flashlight and some poking around, but I discovered that the arm is held in place by a small plastic pin that drops into place from above. Here's the fix: Gently bend down the flat plastic tube that carries water to the arm so you can reach the pin and pull it up and out, then drop the... Read more

When the wife told me the dishwasher was leaving water in the bottom of the tub I hoped it'd be that the filter was just clogged. Nope. We usually clean our dishes before cleaning them which always makes me laugh but the drain was clear after 9 years of use, so I figured it was the pump. This was a $200 minimum for the appliance guy to replace, so I thought I'd try and do it myself. Job wasn't too bad. Found a youtube video from another machine than mine which I hoped would help.. these... Read more

Ordered new inlet water valve and float switch kit. After repairs it now works fine. However the water inlet valve outlet end for fill hose (not water source) and wire connections (supposedly for this unit) were oriented 180 degrees opposite. I had to gently remove the blue plastic valve off the metal support bracket and turn it around and press back in place. Fortunately it appears it was designed for either orientation. Also the solenoid had to be unclipped and also rotated. Again it was... Read more

First I ordered new dishracks from KitchenAid/Whirlpool. However, they don't make the "flex row" tines anymore and there was, therefore, a big "hole" in the dishrack that arrived. I could fit a large pot in the space, but no dishes (they'd fall through). KitchenAid and Whirlpool don't even sell the parts anymore. But, to the rescue comes AppliancePartsPros.com. I was able to order the correct parts and put them in with no difficulty, once I viewed the very handy video. Thank you so much. ... Read more

I nearly shelled out for a new Kitchenaid when I remembered APP and entered my model # just for fun. The interactive diagrams and install videos showed where all the parts "should" be, mine were badly disintegrated, so I replaced the damaged ones and swapped out all of the other easily accessible seals and bearings (also gave it a good and very disturbing cleaning). My parts surprisingly arrived next day and for about $40, the dishwasher is quiet and works like new again. Read more
