With the power to the dishwasher on, I removed the six or seven screws holding the door panel together. With the door separated, I manually moved the switch which should close when the dishwasher latch closes. This illuminated and activated the control panel telling me that the problem was in the door latch. I purchased a new latch from appliance parts pros and installed it. Very easy fix for a homeowner, taking thirty minutes.

Cover detergent cup would not close or stay closed Michael G. • Wareham , MA • October 01, 2019
Although I ordered the latch, lever and a new cup and replace the original pieces the dispenser still did not close. On further inspection it turned out to be a small spring that had fallen out of place. Once the spring was reconnected the dispensing cover worked fine. I'm still happy that I replaced the entire assembly with new parts regardless. Discovering the loose spring took the most time.

Old and leaking inlet sump ? Nicholson J. • Henderson , NC • December 06, 2014
Replaced with a new Inlet Sump [WD18X213]. It was a little tedious, attaching the Inlet Sump, back to the pump, because I did the job with the dishwasher in place (not pulled out). My dishwasher was plumbed with copper pipe, so I really didn't want to upset that. Also, I had previously replaced the motor and the pump in this dishwasher, so I was familiar with how the Inlet Sump attached to the pump. This replacement part is an upper rack slide, and it is intended for use in different types of appliances. This is a genuine replacement part made by General Electric. This upper rack slide is an important part of many appliances. This particular one is typically found in dishwashers and helps guide the upper rack in and out. This allows the user to have easy access to the rack in order to place and remove dishes before and after the cleaning process. A new upper slide rack might be needed if the current ones are broken or damaged in any way. It is possible that these slides become stripped over many years of use and need to be replaced. If the upper rack is tilted or not sturdy while being slid back inside the main tub, the upper rack slide might be the problem. Be sure the dishwasher is completely empty prior to replacing this part. This is a genuine OEM part and is sourced directly from the manufacturer. This upper arm rack slide is sold individually.
