Questions & Answers

For Lg Ice Maker Assembly Kit (Part Number: OEM17027865)

Lloyd, as the ice maker is not releasing ice properly, the failure would be the tray not twisting by the motor fully. Replacing the ice maker will allow the motor to twist the tray properly and cause a proper fill. Unfortunately, the fill level can not be changed.

Dave for Model Number 795.72183.315

I have a Kenmore Elite fridge with an ice maker. The ice maker stopped dispensing the ice so I replaced the ice maker kit with the matching part number AEQ73110203. I ordered it from Appliance Parts Pros, installed the first one with ease and the ice still would not dispense the ice into the ice container. I am on my third ice maker which I installed yesterday. It still only starts to turn about an inch to dispense the ice when ready and stops. I can remove the ice cube container and hit the test button and the tray turns and twists and dispenses the ice. I can't get it to dispense the ice automatically?? HELP!

Hello Dave, the problem is not the ice maker. This model ref control board will not start an ice harvest until the thermistor in the ice maker reaches a temp of 0 deg. So first check the temp of the ice maker area, if not cold enough check the freezer section temp, if reaching 0 deg then likely the ice maker fan ABA72913415 located on the left side of the freezer evap cover is faulty and not pushing enough freezer air to the ice maker.

Huy, the ice maker AEQ73110205 would be used with the model provided. (Note: 14 cube - IMPORTANT: The secondary smaller wire connector has 6 wires in it. If your original ice maker has a 3 wire connector, see part number AEQ73110203. Verify your connector before ordering.)

Alan, it would be recommended that the ice maker fan in the freezer section is inspected to identify if it is able to send cold air to the ice maker. This can be easily checked by opening the left refrigerator door and holding down the door switch while checking for airflow at the vent where the door presses into the sidewall. If there is good airflow, the next step would be to verify the temperature in the freezer with a thermometer as it is possible that there might be a temperature offset. If these all check ok, then the failure would most likely be in the ice maker itself. For the most accurate parts information, the series/revision number would be necessary.

Charlie for Model Number Kenmore 795.7205 ice maker top unit

My ice maker is jammed downward and I had to shut it off. Looks like my wife broke something on the right side of the unit. The unit needs to be replaced. I took out the screws that hold the unit and the back panel. I don't know how to disconnect the multi-plug. Is there a pop out on the side or on the flat portion? I'm concerned I might break the release tab. If I can disconnect the electrical plug, the whole unit will pull out and I can buy the replacement. Can you help with the electrical plug?

1 Answer

Charlie, unfortunately, the model number provided appears to be a partial model. If the full model could be provided in a new question, this will allow for the most accurate information to be presented. Generally speaking, if there is a center lock tab it can be pressed in while pulling the connector. If there are "wings" sticking out on the side they can be pressed in while pulling the connector.

Jud, The gears of the motor in the ice maker are plastic and if the ice cant dump or the tray twist then the gears will click. The repair for this is to replace the ice maker.

Frank, this ice maker would not use a heater as it is a flextray style ice maker. The clicking that is being heard from the ice maker motor would certainly be gears that are skipping and not allowing the tray to rotate properly.

Rick, the ice maker fan voltage would need to be tested at the main control to ensure it is receiving the proper operational voltage. At connection CON7 there will be a yellow/black wire, red wire, and blue wire next to each other. With the black probe of a meter staying on the blue wire, the red probe would go to the red wire and the DC voltage should measure 9-12VDC. Then the red probe would move to the yellow/black wire and should measure between .1 to 4.9VDC. If the main control is not sending 9-12VDC, the control CSP30021078 has failed. If the reads 0VDC or 5VDC, then the fan motor ABA72913413 has failed and would need to be replaced.

Rick, the ice fan ABA72913413 will need to be inspected for partial blocks and proper operation. When the refrigerator door is opened, there are two vents on the side of the cabin. With the door switch pressed in, there should be a good airflow coming through one vent. If not, then the fan is not pushing the air as it should. This would indicate that the freezer evaporator cover would need to be removed and the air duct inspected. If it is clear, then the most likely issue is the fan motor.
