This motor stator is the stationary windings for a direct-drive washer motor. Working with the rotor, it creates the magnetic field that turns the basket. Replacing a failed stator restores consistent wash and spin performance. What it does

  • Provides the fixed windings for the direct-drive motor
  • Works with the rotor to spin and tumble the basket
  • Failure can cause no spin/tumble, intermittent movement, or loud humming
  • May lead to motor/speed-related error codes and cycle shutdowns
What's included
  • 1 motor stator assembly
Install notes
  • Disconnect power before servicing; allow moving parts to stop
  • Access is typically from the rear; remove the rotor to expose the stator
  • Handle the rotor's strong magnets carefully and keep metal objects clear
  • Route and seat the wiring exactly as original; tighten mounting bolts evenly

For Whirlpool Motor Stator (Washer) (Part Number: OEM18063597)

Verduzco for Model Number WTW8800YC1

I replaced bearings and shaft using part W10435302 and W10447783 . I am convinced it was done correctly but when reassembling, I noticed that the rotor had worn a couple of magnetic plates, probably because the stator is scrapping against it; When spinning there is a knocking sound. My question is: What is the best sequence to deal with the rotor hitting the stator? Do not want to buy unnecessary parts. Should I start with the suspension rods ? or replace the stator / rotor ? or rotor position sensor. No error codes in automatic test and washer is balanced against floor. Thank you Washer Whirlpool Model number WTW8800YC1 (2 ½ years old !!!)

Verduzco, You will want to make sure that the tub shaft is straight. If it is then the rotor would definitely need to be replaced and check the stator to make sure that there is no damage to it and replace if necessary.

Kristie, It's not likely a WPW10419333 stator problem, but it could be a failed RPS sensor WPW10178988 or loose connection. The sensor "tells" the control what rpm's the motor is running, if the readings are incorrect the control will give the UL error code. You also need to make sure the washer is level both front to back and side to side and the tub sits centered in the opening.

Ron, You would want to replace the tub assembly for your unit. The bearings are available separately but would need to get a tool that can only be used for bearing replacement and would be around the same cost. The part number for the tub is W10193886. If you want the bearing, the part number is W10435302 and the tool is part number W10447783.

During spin cycle tub spins then hits the side.I have replaced the tub shaft and bearing kit and replaced the rotor on the stator motor. The new shaft spins great UNTIL I PUT THE NEW rotor over the stator. The rotor turns about 3/4 of one revolution then it feels like the rotor is hitting something which causes a "drag" when I'm spinning the rotor. this is exactly what the washer was doing before I replaced the tub shaft and bearing kit and put a new rotor on it.Do you think it is the stator?

1 Answer

R.Kokoszka, You will want to check the stator for damage and also check the RPS sensor to make sure that it is in place properly. Also check the suspension rods to make sure that they are not damaged or loose.

Hello Paige. F then 51 flashes when there is a motor rotor position sensor (RPS) failure or lower harness problem. You will need to replace the sensor WPW10178988 and harness WPW10137697 on the unit.

Hello Mar, This sounds like a dropped phase in the motor. This is most commonly caused by a poor electrical connections between the control and the motor and/or RPS. Many require the harness WPW10137697 to correct the issue. The units' self-diagnostic mode can be used to diagnose the issue but most of the fault codes will basically state a poor electrical connection between these parts. Of course, the RPS WPW10178988 is another common failure as is the control board WPW10372179.

Hello David, The loud roar is an indication of failing spin bearing. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has made the spin bearing available only as part of the outer tub assembly WPW10321442.
