Randall January 19, 2012 for Model Number 11062922100 Kenmore elect series 90 dryer HI all, waiting for info. I jumped the thermo cutoffs, I jumped the rear one (in your pictures it is the one thats smaller and has a red line on it (it is on rear of heater tube/hsg. IF I jumped it and it gets hot, is it the malfunction? It showed no conductivity with multi meter at room temp. Randall
1 Answer Hi Randall. Yes if you momentarily jump the thermostat and it heats up, it is a solid verification of the device being bad, but what caused it. As you wont want this to happen right after you change it out. Clean all the vent system entirely. Then go outside and clear the vent cap so it opens and closes properly. 1st- night air, rain air will get into the vent system and in the dips of the vent lengths or crevices anywhere the moisture can collect the lint trying to get out and it will eventually be a restriction. Then the heater overheats and allows the element to expand momentarily shorting out. So by taking the time and effort it will pay you back in spades. This should be done a few time's a year. The heat element (if needed) is part # WP3387747. The thermostat kit is part # 279769. Thank You. Read More...
Randall January 18, 2012 for Model Number 11062922100 Series 90 Kenmoore elect dryer I have no heat on any dryer cycle. I checked continuity on element and shows fine with mulit and visual. I checked gthe 2 thermostats on the element housing/tube and the one with red and white back shows closed, the one thats black with red stripe on housing (on your pic one on right , small one) shows open continuity. What else should I do and is it suppose to be open or closed at room temp and what ohms? check what else?
1 Answer Hi Randall. All thermostats are normally closed. They open for a safety issue that part is # 279769. However there is a thermal fuse on top of the blower hsg. with 2-wires connecting it,part # WP3390719 this will open the heat also. The cycling thermostat next to it needs to be normally closed also. Part # WP3387134. Remember to now and a couple of times/yr. to clean the entire vent system including the vent cap outside for proper opening and closing or the part will immediately fail and you will have to begin again. Thank You. Read More...
Bob January 03, 2012 for Model Number 11096093800 How do you know when the heating element is broken or is it just the fuse?
1 Answer Hello Bob. The heater and the thermal kit 279769 should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Greg July 26, 2011 for Model Number RGD4340sq1 I have a gas dryer and on my towel setting, it kicks on, but like ten minuts later, the heat shuts off. What would make it do that?
1 Answer Hello Greg. Check and see if the coils 279834 are bad on the unit. If so, the flame will work, then quit working on the unit. Also, make sure the igniter 279311 is glowing bright orange and not dull. If both of these are good, you will need to test and see if the thermal cut-off 279769 is sticking in the open position. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Tn July 05, 2011 for Model Number Whirlpool 110.64962300 My dryer will only come on when it is on the timed dry cycle of no more than ten minutes or the shortest auto dry. In any other position on the timer it will not operate or come on. When on the timed dry for ten minutes it will heat. I have taken the dryer out and cleaned it internally of all lint and debris and also we cleaned the vent out of the house up through the wall. Where should I start?
1 Answer Hello TN. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the timer WP3976576 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
Don June 14, 2011 for Model Number 11062922100 Have replaced two thermal cutoff fuses and high limit thermostat sets, both new ones blew (they were ERP brand that cost 9.75). Could the parts be defective? How about the wiring? I wired the solid red and red w/ white line to heating coil, then at red w/ white line from thermostat to thermal fuse and then a black wire from thermostat to thermal fuse. Is that the correct wiring? Would buying OEM kit help? Or could it be the other thermostat?
1 Answer Hello Don. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. If the vent is stopped up, it can blow the high limits. Also make sure the cycling thermostat WP3387134 is working properly. Hope this helps. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Doug. It is not recommened to run the dryer without the thermal cut off. The dryer can be a fire hazard without the thermal cut off. Hope this helps. Read More...
Larry A. June 01, 2011 for Model Number kenmore 96575810 My kenmore electric dryer stopped drying in doesn't dry my clothes. No heat. I've already replaced the fuse. Do you have any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Larry. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater 279838 and thermal fuses 279816 and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
