The Door Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It forms an insulating perimeter around the freezer door opening to prevent warm air from entering during use.
Causes of a faulty door gasket include breakdown of sealing materials over time, cracks or loose edges that compromise effectiveness.
Symptoms of a bad freezer gasket are:
- Frost or ice buildup around the door seal
- Visible gaps allowing warm, moist air inside
- Inefficient cooling requiring excessive energy use
- Higher electric bills from poor insulation
This genuine OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

This is a Whirlpool freezer gasket. If the freezer is having difficulties staying at temperature and the old gasket is damaged or off track, replacing the gasket could fix the problems. A faulty gasket could also lead to higher levels of ice and frost build up in the freezer. This could potentially raise an energy bill because it causes the freezer to stay engaged longer. Higher levels of frost build up could ultimately damage other components. Pull the old gasket out before installing the new one. It doesn't matter if the old part gets snagged or torn when it's taken out since a replacement is ready. Be sure not to break any of the fastening clips around the edge of the freezer. Slowly insert the gasket around the outer edges of the freezer lid, inserting the lip of the gasket into the cut out areas. Make sure the gasket is held tightly in place before shutting the freezer lid. This part is sourced directly from the manufacturer as a genuine OEM replacement part. This gasket is only available individually and is not included with any other parts or the original appliance. This product is compatible with Whirlpool brand freezers.

Evaporator freezing up; warm freezer section Stuart F. • Albuquerque , NM • September 12, 2020
Volt Ohmmeter test indicated defrost thermostat and heater were OK. Defrost voltage measured ~25 VAC. I ordered all the most likely repair parts, but thought the control board had failed. I replaced the control board and the freezer has been working properly for several days. I haven't decided whether to keep or return the unused parts. I damaged the paint removing the electrical control. There must be a trick to protect the paint from the putty knife and screwdriver.

GE side by side. Fridge side not cooling, freezer side working fine. Thomas H. • La Mesa , CA • May 19, 2020
Evaporator fan motor in our freezer was bad. Ordered new one with 2 day delivery and had it in 2 days. Thankfully it was very easy to get to from the front of the freezer. There are 3 different options for same motor with different wire harnesses. I bought the cheapest option and then snipped and reconnected the wires to the existing harness. That saved us $50. Still well under an hour from the time I opened the tool box to putting the last tool away.
Fridge is now plenty cold even set on 5. .

Gasget on refrigerator door needed replacing Ginger H. • North Plainfiels , NJ • September 07, 2015
Appliance repair company quoted $400.00 to replace door seal. Found model number, ordered part. Very pleased when part arrived next day. Using internet found instructions on how to fix.
Soaking part for about a hour in hot water made seal pliable and easily went back together.
Hint for a refrigerator that has a top freezer, empty door before removing.
Very glad I did this, husband surprised it turned out perfect. Question now is how do I get him to fork over the three hundred I saved him?
