Questions & Answers

For Ge Microwave Fuse (Part Number: OEM11982195)

Hello Mike. You need to test the fuse and see if it reads closed for continuity. You need to remove the outer cover of the unit to access the fuse. Make sure it is unplugged before doing any repair on the unit and keep in mind microwaves are very dangerous with high voltage inside them. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hi Paul. It sounds like your magnetron has shorted. Remove it and inspect the tip to see if it is blown apart. Look at the side upper and lower magnets to see if they are cracked. The new one comes in a kit that includes the diodes and the stirrer plate assy. Be careful not to get crossed into the capacitor terminals as it stores voltage and is a safety concern. The magnetron kit is part # WB49X10226. You will need to sand to clean metal and use the microwave touch-up paint part # TJ98QBP0300 on all shorted cabinet surfaces. Thank You.

Hello Bill, There is a thermostat WB27X10195 halfway across the top of the unit mounted on top of the cooking compartment. It's normally called a cavity thermostat. This prevents over-temperatures in the cavity. If I remember correctly, both wires to it are black. You remove the vent across the top front of the unit and it is accessed from the front. Be aware that the thermostat cannot be bypassed without creating a fire hazard. Also, make sure the unit is unplugged before touching it as there is 120Vac on one side of this thermostat at all times even if it is open.

Mike, the WB27X10928 isn't the issue, were it open the microwave would be "dead" and nothing would work. it could be an open thermostat WB21X10148 or magnetron WB27X10927. You didn't supply a complete model number, but we'll be sending you the information you are asking for. Thanks and Good Luck

Hi Gilbert. Remove the cover. I would use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. In line after the power cord there is a fuse part # WB27X10928. The ohm meter on the R x 1 scale, the fuse will read 0-ohms good. It will read infinity (too large of a reading) - open. As you have it open carefully look for black shorted areas where the part failed and shorted to ground. Do not touch the capacitor as it is charged electrically (DEADLY). Look at the control board. Part # WB27X10900. There is a noise filter/ fuse board part # WB02X11244. It has 2- fuses.Thank You.

Chip for Model Number JVM1661WB001

Greetings. Both of my lights blew out on the bottom of the microwave. When I went to unscrew them, they were both stuck, and the bulbs came out without the metal base. But, the first one sparked when it came loose. So I unplugged the oven and attempted once again to remove the base. I broke the socket on the first one. I replaced the socket with a GE factory part and bought new bulbs, being careful to not screw them in too tight. They do not work. I see from the schematic that there is a fuse on the circuit board. Everything else on the oven works as it should. I am afraid I roasted the circuit that lights the bulbs. Intuition tells me that the fuse does not only control the lights... Please tell me I am wrong.

Hi Chip. Your power for the lights are from the main control board part # WB49X20238. In this area you will access a wiring diagram that is folded in a packet. Make sure that you check the complete circuit wire and connectors as you go back to the control board. Make sure they are not pinched and the connectors are clean and tight, not burnt. Thank You.

Hello Angie. You will need to test the thermostats WB27X10810, WB27X1127, WB27X10166, and WB27X10194. They should read closed for continuity. If they are good, you may have a bad gas sensor WB24X799 on the unit. If any of these are bad, they will cause the problems you are having with the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
