Fix loud grinding noises in your dryer with a new blower wheel. This fan circulates air to dry clothes efficiently. DIY-friendly repair.
Our Maytag gas clothes dryer was not drying like it should/used to and was making a lot of noise. After researching online I figured the vent was partially blocked and/or the blower wheel was bad. When I took it apart, the vent had very little lint in the lower elbow exiting the back of the dryer but the blower wheel was loose on the shaft and was missing the clamp. I cleaned out the vent and put a hose clamp on the blower wheel to tighten it to the shaft and tried it again. The noise was... Read more

Replace your dryer's drum felt seal to stop air leaks, reduce noise, and prevent clothing stains. Fits between drum and bulkhead. Confirm fit with model.
After replacing thermal fuse once and having it fail a second time, I had to dig a little deeper to uncover the problem. I checked for blockage in the vent but everything was clear. I did, however, find that the drum had some up and down play in it. After closer inspection, I could see that the front drum seal was actually worn to the point that I could see a gap between the seal and the drum. I figured that the gap in the seal was letting air in and not letting sufficient air flow through the... Read more
Squealing or grinding noise from your washer? This thrust washer reduces friction between rotating parts. DIY-friendly repair with basic tools.
Upon removal of the lower inspection panel on the front of the machine, my 20 year old son thought the motor was bad by the smell. But he did discover what turned out to be the belt tensioner pulley laying inside the machine. After he pronounced it dead, without a thought to the idler pulley, I looked at the machine and determined the lack of movement was due to the idler pulley having "fallen" off the shaft by looking at the illustrated parts break down provided on this website. Ordered the... Read more
Dryer not heating or flame goes out after igniting? This flame sensor monitors burner temperature to regulate gas flow. Easy 15-minute DIY repair.
Being a complete DIY I hate to call some unknown person into my home knowing that just to get them there will cost me more than I will spend for parts that I don't need. After all, they are trying to make a living and by selling me parts that I don't need will increase their profits. I've dealt with APP before and was impressed by their site because I could find both mechanical and electrical drawings for almost everything I have. I looked up my dryer, decided what was probably the problem,... Read more

For several months we could smell a slight odor of propane in the laundry room and wondered why, just didn't seem like it was enough to be overly concerned, but thought something must be wrong with the dryer, but it was still working. We just didn't know how inefficiently. Then the extra time it took to dry a load of clothes progressively seemed to get longer, but things still seemed to work fine and the clothes got dried, given enough time. Then approximately 3 weeks ago we noticed the dryer... Read more

The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Just believe the older models are worth fixing, if at all possible. Frist we had to figure out what parts we would need and if the cost would be worth our time. I went on YouTube: and type in Kenmore dryer not turning on. Watched several videos to narrow down the possible problem. Next step was to... Read more

Since finding out pulley on motor is factory installed, I had to order a new motor with new pulley on it. I could not remove old blower wheel from old motor, no matter how hard I tried so I had to purchase new blower wheel and new blower housing. I am super happy finding Appliancepartspros.com the prices, and my experience was great! I basically removed everything step by step, and then replaced with the new parts step by step. I had help by watching videos that were provided online before and... Read more

I'm new to how a dryer works, so I just started taking it apart to see what exactly was causing it. The video examples on the APP website were all amazing. It gave me a good idea of what I was getting into and showed me the common repair issues. The dryer being 12 years old, I was on the fence about repairing or replacing. However, once I got a list of parts I might need and getting the confidence by watching the videos, I said "what have I got to lose." The cause of the scraping and loud... Read more

Get some acetone at a Hardware Store before you start. A pint will do. Unplug the dryer from 110 VAC. Pull the top off of the dryer, by lifting it from the front first. It is attached with snap metal fittings. Do not completely remove the top, just tip upright to gain access to the front interior of the dryer. Dryer not heating? A faulty igniter won't glow or ignite the gas burner. This common repair part restores heat in 30-60 minutes with basic tools.
After verifying the no heat problem myself, I just googled "LG3412W no heat" with my smartphone and thumb. One of the first hits was the Appliance Parts Pros website with a list of 8 possible parts that might fix this problem, listed in descending order of likelihood of success. With 3 adults worth of dirty laundry piling up and straining our ability to drip dry, I had to agonize over: 1) buying a new dryer from whatever a local dealer had in stock, then clearing years of valuable junk in... Knowing that several things could be causing the noise, I ordered parts to cover all possibilities; once I got inside the dryer, I found the Idler Arm and Idler Pulley were worn and loose; replaced them and the Tumbler Bearings; the dryer now runs quiet again. Was going to replace the Drive Belt but believe it to be the wrong model, it was narrower and had 4 ribs whereas the old one seems to be OK and I believe has 5 ribs.
