The Defrost Heater is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire refrigerators. It is an electric heating element located within the back wall and along the evaporator coil compartment. The heater defrost works to melt any accumulated frost or ice during refrigeration defrost cycles.
Causes of a bad defrost heater include failure of the heating coil or wiring over time due to regular use. Moisture exposure can also degrade insulation and connections.
Symptoms of a bad defrost heater include:
This OEM Frigidaire replacement defrost heater restores automatic defrost capabilities. Compatible with some Electrolux, Roper, and Kenmore models as well, regular replacements prevent defrost issues.
Replaced evaporator heater and housing. Just make sure you also replace the thermostat. If not it is a little challenging to get the wires out of the old thermostat/ heater plug into the new plug. Also if you have the same problem be prepared to have a good heat gun to melt the ice buildup around the evaporator and drain hole. The ice build up was so bad that it destroyed the evaporator cover and was leaking into the refrigerator or should I say ice was forming below the evaporator cover... Read more

This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. I had the same issue on my older unit and tore it apart replacing one item at a time over a three month period so on an older one i suggest do it all while it is apart. Read more
This dishwasher heater mounts at the bottom of the tub to raise wash-water temperature and boost the heated dry cycle. Replacing a failed element restores proper heating, helping cycles finish on time and improving drying performance.
Total repair took slightly over 1 hour. Would have taken longer had I not already have taken the freezer apart on a previous occasion. Therefore I already knew the sequence and was able to disassemble it quickly. A little tricky getting the part out but easier to get it in. SImple repair for anyone mechanically inclined. Read more
This evaporator defrost heater melts frost from the freezer's evaporator coil during the automatic defrost cycle, restoring proper airflow and cooling. Replacing a failed heater helps prevent recurring ice buildup and temperature swings.
The cooling coils were iced-up. The ice was blocking air flow to the refrigerator. This resulted in the freezer working fine while the refrigerator was warm. Called AppliancePartsPros and talked to Sally. Sally was a big help in troubleshooting the problem. I ordered and replaced the cooling coil heater. If you attempt to do this repair yourself, BE CAREFUL, the cooling coil fins are sharp. Read more

This defrost heater kit warms the evaporator during the automatic defrost cycle to melt frost and keep air moving. Replace it when ice builds up on the freezer coils and temperatures rise or airflow is restricted.
Inspected the Defrost timer and it seamed to be functioning properly. Ohm ed out the defrost heater element and it also measured out correctly (mine 34 ohms). Bypassed the heater element and found that the unit would run without tripping breaker during defrost cycle. At this point i inspected the wiring to the heater and checked continuity of the wire and continuity to ground, No issues found. So with the heater out of the circuit and not having an issue i ordered heater element from... Read more
