Bake element caught on fire and burned until it broke apart at one spot Steve M. • Merritt Island , FL • July 04, 2014
It took no time to find where the problem was! I got my Frigidaire model number and got on-line with AppliancePartsPros.com where I have gone for over a decade for all my household repairs. Why? because they are honest, helpful, considerate, fast, and its easy to locate and SEE the exact part I need. 10 minutes after the burning of my element, one was in my cart and ordered! Done. TWO days later, the part arrived. I turned off the circuit breaker, unscrewed the two 1/4" screws and pulled off...

Oven temperature was very low and inconsistant James H. • Fallon , NE • July 23, 2017
I ordered the part I was sure I needed through the Appliance Pro website. I was surprised the part arrived in just two days. FIRST UNPLUG THE OVEN.. I removed the baking racks then two screws holding the plate over the element. I then removed three screws holding the old element in place, then gently wiggle/pull the element free from the electrical connections in the back of the oven. (Note: You cannot see the connections at this point. You'll need to remove the terminal block cover on the...

Oven burner would not light broiler burner would light Michael C. • Austin , TX • January 25, 2015
If the oven burner would not light but the broiler would this indicated that the safety valve is OK. Problem had to be with the igniter. Removed the bottom panel in the oven and restarted the oven. The igniter would not glow at all. It should be brilliant red.
This is where the problem came in. I could not find the location of the model on the Kenmore range anywhere you would normally look - the back, the wiring envelope, the oven door jamb etc. Also the igniter cannot be removed from...

The baking element on our 28 year old oven decided to quit on new year's eve while preheating we heard a loud crackling pop which was the element shorting out it bubbled and started smoking Cynthia B. • Waukesha , WI • January 06, 2015
Of course, these things always seem to happen on a holiday! Luckily we were not having guests for dinner - so quickly changed our eating plans for the evening. I went directly online and Googled "Bake elements for GE ovens". At first I did not think I would have luck finding this part because of the oven's age. AppliancePartsPros.com was one of the service dealers listed first and catered specifically to GE appliances and parts. So, I typed in the Model number and low and behold, a screen...

The front left element (8 inch) would stay hot on lower control settings. Michael S. • West Seneca , NY • September 13, 2022
After an internet search, the likely problem was a faulty "Element Switch.." I actually unplugged the stove and removed the switch (I did NOT disconnect the wires). I obtained the part number on the switch, disassembled it, observed that the contacts were highly degraded, reassembled the switch and reinstalled it back into the stove. This all provided confidence the SWITCH was faulty.
One switch on the AppliancePartsPros.com website (AP2591804) looked exactly like the switch in the stove...

Jennair jjw9630cas double oven doors did not close all the way and the light would not go out Wayne W. • East Longmeadow , MA • February 13, 2016
I have a Jennair jjw9630cas double wall oven, and after a few years I noticed that the light would not go out, first in the bottom oven, and then in the top oven. After doing some research I discovered this was not uncommon, and the fix usually involved replacing the hinges and/or the hinge receptacles. It didn't look like a difficult fix so I ordered four new hinges and four new receptacles, which arrived quickly. I found a video on YouTube that showed how to replace the hinges and it...

My oven would not light Jean B. • Pass Christian , MS • June 22, 2014
My Tappan Range, which I paid a grand total of $65.00 for, and have been using since Katrina, (Katrina in 2005 is how we measure time in South Mississippi.) I live in an old house, and I am old, too. Last winter was the coldest I can remember, and my husband (older than I and far more hard-headed) used the oven like a heater. I read all user's manuals, because I use only used stuff, I can download the manuals or read them online, and it clearly stated in there NOT to use the oven as a...

Installed new oven bake element.
I am very appreciative of the instructional video. It's a very handy way for me to figure out if it's a do-it-yourself repair or not. In this case, another key thing it pointed out was the fact that the two wires that attach to the oven bake element have a tendency to slip back into the insulation behind the...

Replacement of oven ignitor Joe H. • South Abington Township , PA • February 05, 2021
My Kenmore 790.74139310 gas range was taking over 30 minutes to reach 350F. It used to take a little less than 10 minutes. The problem was the ignitor for the lower gas burner. It would glow but not pass sufficient current to increase the gas flow to the lower burner. Once at temperature, there is of course loss of heat when loading the oven with room temperature food. This took too long to recover, so we did not have proper temperature for proper cooking for the first 30 to 40 minutes. Food...

The radiant elements had been dead for years the bake element failed spectacularly on Thanksgiving Christine W. • Golden Valley , MN • December 04, 2020
It took a few of us. One to vacuum up the fire extinguisher residue. One to trip the breaker. One to provide light. One to clean out under the stove while it was pulled out. I disconnected the bake element. I needed help to disconnect one of them because it was very tight. I put the element into the oven and reconnected the right side, very easy. The left side fell back into the slot. Curses ensued. I removed the back plate and it was very easy to thread the left wire back into the oven and...
